Mental note to buy more of Paul’s wines. Really special stuff from the first pour. Heavy nose of rose, anise, licorice and a little coffee even. On the palate, currants and cassis for days with some deeper graphite and plum notes bringing up the finish. Medium+ body I think there is more here with time but tannins are already smooth as silk. Drink now for another 3-5 years likely.

Pnp. Great light food wine. Sparkling acidity, tart, ripe raspberry, cranberry, hibiscus, black olive. Lighter bodied but just very enjoyable with a little chill from the cellar.

PnP. Big for sure but not overly brooding. Tannins have integrated quite well and was drinking great from the first sip. Definite heat on the nose with leather and purple fruits. In the glass, maraschino cherry, hibiscus, coffee with a subtle minerality. Finishes sweet with a bit of a lingering dryness. Happy to have more as this is drinking well but has some life yet.

Inky, dark and brooding in the glass. But closed off when first opened but after decanting and drinking over a few hours really began to express itself.

Black licorice, cassis and violets seamlessly blend with some more game-like notes. The body is thick and almost gritty but at the same time the tannins are well integrated and the fruit keeps everything balanced with bright, tarter notes.

All in all a really beautiful expression of Syrah from Tuscany that I wish we had more of and will definitely seek out again. If you are fortunate enough to have more cellared, feel free to drink now but I’d expect it to continue to evolve for at least another 4-5 years.

Light bodied, very crisp with great minerality. Sour cherry, fresh raspberry, red licorice and hibiscus florality. Drinking well now and probably for another few years. Superb drinking wine if not overly complex.

Drinking well now but continued to evolve over the course of dinner.

Initially, savory meats, earth and spice greet you on the nose and set the expectation of a big wine, however, while tannins are still present which should allow it to evolve for some time the body falls somewhere in the light to medium range.

As dinner progressed the wine continued to open up, es pressing some deeper fruits of dried black cherry, licorice, raspberry and a subtle floral undertone on the finish. The wine paired well with pork and as others have stated may be best as a food wine as opposed to on its own.

All in all an enjoyable wine which I would choose again should the opportunity present itself.

Big tart fruit nose with raspberry, cranberry, hard cherry candy and violet notes. The palate follows with much the same although it leaves something to be desired after the alluring smell. Light, smooth tannins and a subtle minerality but decidedly new world.

Drank over a few hours and did not develop much if at all. Enjoyable still but I would drink up.

A great showing from Palmaz exhibiting a mix of California and Burgundy styles.

On the palate there is a creamy body leading into buttery notes with a nice minerality mixed in. As the butter fades, notes of pear, apple and melon appear for a pleasantly crisp finish. Overall enjoyable and I'll be looking forward to the remaining bottles.

PNP - Graphite, oak, cassis, licorice, subtle mint with surprisingly chewy tannins still around. Enjoyable, however, signs of age were beginning to show with some flatter flavor notes.

Opened for about 30 minutes before pouring. Sour cherry, spice, and slightly floral; combined with a refreshing minerality and acidity this wine never seems to disappoint.

PnP. Burgundian or Beaujolais-like even with a bit of a new world punch. Notes of raspberry, plum, and cranberry with slight floral notes and a crisp acidity. The tannins are integrating nicely and making for a very pleasant drinking experience right now, but should continue to do so for a few years.

Decanted for an hour and drank over the next few. Evolved pleasantly throughout.

Licorice, black cherry, blackberry all balanced out with meaty, smoky notes on the nose. On the palate the fruits mix together nicely leading to a lingering, tingly herbal, floral and tannic finish.

A big wine to be sure but combined with everything else going on still very approachable.

Decanted for 90 minutes before pouring. Big dark fruits with a bit of alcohol on the nose. Tannins are integrating nicely but still around for sure. Notes of cassis, licorice, black cherry with a bit of earth and dark chocolate. Drinking well now but should continue to evolve.

Somewhat restrained nose. Pleasantly tart and off-dry with notes of melon, lemon and a soft buttery palate.

Pop and pour. Big nose of jammy fruit. On the palate, raspberry, strawberry, black pepper and medium tannins. This is a pretty big Bourgogne but it's pleasant and very drinkable even at this age. Will be interesting to see how it ages as it appears to have potential to drink for a while. All in all extremely solid, especially at this price point.

PNP. Dark cherry, cassis, spice and a little meaty/umami-ness there as well. Enjoyable even if it's not remarkable and certainly a strong value.

Pop and pour. Big jammy pinot with blackberries, cherries, licorice and a bit of spice although it is a bit hot on the nose. It's enjoyable enough for a "drinking" wine although it is a bit one dimensional.

Decanter for 2 hours - bit of heat on the nose but definitely a fruit bomb. Sour cherry, plum, licorice, some oak and maybe even a bit of earth. Medium finish. Enough tannins there to keep this drinking well for a few years to come. Solid California rhone blend and a good qpr.

Fragile cork, pale red color with some light bricking around the rim beginning. Tart cherry, strawberry and a refreshing acidity. Overall a graceful new world pinot. Fantastic QPR although I'd drink up as I imagine it's on the downward slope.

Lovely nose of cassis, other dark red fruits. On the palate the tannins are still there but integrating nicely along with notes of raspberry, cherry and a velvety body. Overall a very graceful new-world Merlot showing. Drinking great but will continue to do so for some years to come.

On the nose: licorice, black cherry and tobacco.

On the palate: Dark fruits and pepper, with notes of a certain woodiness and very well integrated tanins.

Overall drinking lovely but should last another 5+ years.
