2004 Gaja Barolo Dagromis

Community Tasting Note

93 Points

Sunday, December 2, 2018 - Opened during Hanukkah evening. Full body, bright ruby color. Charm aroma of red berries with dominant truffles, flowers and leather. Typical for Barolo sour cherry, strawberry and cedar tar palate with lingering spicy finish. Rich and complex but still very juicy, well balanced and structured , lovely wild fruits acidity and muscular tannins. Food friendly, best match is carpaccio. Open about one hour ahead. Serve 17º - 22º. Drink now and next four/five years.

That being said, I really enjoy tasting both whites and reds through the temperature curve to experience the different layers expressed at increasing temp. For me there are no additional qualities over 20c.
