Middag med A+N och P+H i Sundbyberg (A+N, Sundbyberg): (Decanted for one hour) Nice brick red colour with a maturing nose showing sweet fruitiness and hip roses and violets in a very nice and pleasant way. Intense palate showing red berries, violets and austere tannins in a very pleasant way. Lighter on the palate than anticipated, but with a lovely intensity on the lengthy finish. (Best 2019-2034)

This is a very elegant and well mannered wine and definitely has assimilated the oak vs earlier tastings. Ripe, dark cherry notes, soft oaky aromatics. Round and silky on the palate, softer and less of the expected barolo firmness. Maybe the problem here is that its too well mannered and fails to excite. A solid 92 nonetheless and drinks probably close to top now. 92

Opened during Hanukkah evening. Full body, bright ruby color. Charm aroma of red berries with dominant truffles, flowers and leather. Typical for Barolo sour cherry, strawberry and cedar tar palate with lingering spicy finish. Rich and complex but still very juicy, well balanced and structured , lovely wild fruits acidity and muscular tannins. Food friendly, best match is carpaccio. Open about one hour ahead. Serve 17º - 22º. Drink now and next four/five years.
Full and rich nose of dark fruit, chocolate, roasted nuts, tar, cedar and gun-powder. Very deep and complex. Medium-fullish and generous palate. Pure, rich fruit. Very good concentration and harmony. Cedar, black currant, tar and chocolate. Ripe tannins. Gives some surprising Bdx-impressions. WOTN in a small Barolo tasting.

PnP'd and then drank over two nights. It was suprisingly consistent over this period -- good to go almost right away, and holding up fine(without markedly improving) on day two. Only modest bricking at the rim. Nose of red fruits (cherry, which I don't often get in Barolo, and currant), floral notes, herbs, bitters, and a touch of VA. Nicely weighted en bouche, with fine tannins. My sense is that this has entered its optimal drinking plateau and will stay here for another 5 to 8 years (though it will hang on for a good while longer).

Beau produit, unidimensionnel, mais très agréable à boire. Très nebbiolo classique, fleurs, herbes de Provence et fruits foncés. Je n'ai pas été impressionné.

Opaque crimson color. Multifaceted nose of rosemary, crushed flower petals, and freshly ground coffee beans. The palate is immensely floral, with a persistent stony note. The tannins have softened a bit, making this more accessible than the 2008 I recently tried. Nonetheless, this is a complex wine of abundant aromas and concentrated flavors, with the structural underpinnings to support extended maturation.

Monthly Tasting Group HWS #093; Italy: Gaja. (By CvR): Rustic and beautiful bouquet with earthy, autumn and truffle. Also some coffee. On the palate chocolate, red and dark berry fruits, some earth, herbs and spices, minerals, pleasant and good acidity and round tannin with a good bite. Good length and overall a beautiful and complex wine. Ready now and a future until at least 2018. 92+

Deeper color. The nose is elegant and rich, showing a more liquor like quality. This is fairly full bodied on the palate, with outstanding concentration and very good finesse. The long finish shows big tannins and good acidity.

- Ruby color and has flavours of mushroom and cedar with a long finish - Great balance and integration for a fairly young Barolo. Good drinking now and for the next couple of years.

Beautiful barolo from Gaja, the previous reviews mentioned that it doesn't have the stuffing for the long run and they're right on the money, fine tannins but lacking a little structure.Drinking beautifully right now, medium to full body, roses and tar al over the place and the typical nebiollo colors....

This is more accessible and soft than other Gaja wines from this vintage at this point. I guess thats typical for La Morra. I was not expecting this wine to to be this good. I loved it. Packed with chocolate, licorice and red berries. A beauty.

8/10 - A lovely and accessible barolo packed with fresh dark cherries, strawberries, blackcurrants and floral scents. On the palate, the same comes through with minerals, licorice and oak. Very lush both on taste and on mouthfeel. Tannins are sweet and well integrated. Alcohol was a little unsettled at times throughout the evening.

This was WOTN at Piemonte night for our wine group. Decanted for 3 hours. Still the nose was muted until it sat in the glass a while. Soft fruit, floral notes and terrior on the nose. Raspberry, milk chocolate and some mineral on the palate. Finish was a bit austere.

Cervinia & Zermatt Ski Trip; 1/15/2011-1/16/2011 (Cervinia, Italy): At the Chalet L'Etoile in Cervinia. Not ideal tasting conditiions given on a ski slope yet consistent with our earlier more formal TN. If nothing else the slightly colder conditions we had it this time round make the wine more fwd as the tannins are not so aggressive on the palate. Still a touch too much wood.

Young but not a wall of austerity. If nothing else post 35mins in a decanter it becomes fruit fwd and relatively approachable. Nice elegant nose but palate is not ready yet. Needs 2yrs or so. A relatively fwd (even a bit modern)expression of Barolo and maybe a touch too much wood. Very enjoyable nonetheless but maybe paying a bit more for the Gaja label than needed

Incredibly approachable for such a young Barolo. A light purple red color. Tar and strawberry on the nose. Very little tannins. Well balanced with good mouth feel and a very pleasant finish. Drank the first bottle with conversation. Looking forward to pairing it.

{Enoteca Life, Roma} Looked surprisingly thin in the glass. Almost strawberry in colour. Expressive nose of rose petal and iron tells of more to come. Lighter, drink now style. Well balanced with smooth tannins. Paired beautifully with smoked bacon and duck.

Lots of fresh strawberry notes, wonderful clarity, bright ruby color, silky midpalate, finishes with classic Nebbiolo grip. Beautiful wine, perhaps needs a touch more power from beginning to midpalate. Would definitely drink again if could afford another bottle!

Very nice on the nose, but a little weak on the palette. Perhaps caused by the food, filet of pork served with Balsamico and a potato cake.
