Monday, October 17, 2022 - A Blind Cabernet Tasting: [Tasted Double Blind] This pours extremely deep glass staining purple in the glass. No bricking, youthful appearance. The nose is of rich cassis, black licorice, blueberry jam dusted with icing sugar, rosemary, vanilla extract, some new oak, and a vague whisp of dusty soil. The palate enters on abundant deep and rich fruit, so much so that it borders on an off dry, and cloying characteristic. Tannin is medium minus and very fine and velvety with medium minus acid. Definitely a strong whiff of alcohol on the finish at 14%+. I called this a young, modern Napa Cab. On reveal I was correct, though I figured this particular producer wouldn't have been quite this modern. Not rated as I have difficulty appreciating this style.
