Friday, May 3, 2024 - I had the 2013 Tillington when it was very young in 2018 and a pretty disappointing experience it was (see note). There's an interesting back story here of the 'accidental' discovery in 2009 winemaking team of Cherie Spriggs (Head Winemaker) and her husband Brad Greatrix discovered was a parcel of Pinot Noir they was particularly exciting and expressive. This is infact 79% Pinot from that plot and 22% Chardonnay. Better than the 2013 certainly with more bottle age and has scarcity value and attendant cost. Still young, but this is not a style that works for me and at £100 per bottle there are far better sparkling wines at the price - including Nyetimber's ever consistent Blanc de Blancs at half the cost.
