I had the 2013 Tillington when it was very young in 2018 and a pretty disappointing experience it was (see note). There's an interesting back story here of the 'accidental' discovery in 2009 winemaking team of Cherie Spriggs (Head Winemaker) and her husband Brad Greatrix discovered was a parcel of Pinot Noir they was particularly exciting and expressive. This is infact 79% Pinot from that plot and 22% Chardonnay. Better than the 2013 certainly with more bottle age and has scarcity value and attendant cost. Still young, but this is not a style that works for me and at £100 per bottle there are far better sparkling wines at the price - including Nyetimber's ever consistent Blanc de Blancs at half the cost.

Nose: Nice complexity and depth, good aging notes, slightly exotic and aromatic.
Palate: Gargantuan and rich finish with mind-blowing concentration, superb substance, and fantastic length!
This ESW, from this outstanding vintage, can rival the best champagnes any day! Buy as many as you can get your hands on, and leave them for a couple of years, as there is so much to work with here. Out of body experience!

Powerful brioche nose. Yeasty golden fruit. Not especially effervescent. Much more fruit forward and rich than my experience with austere english sparklers. Very nice. 93+

Pale gold colour. Small and lively bubbles. Medium (+) and developing nose with yellow apples, pear, peach, ripe lemon, brioche, toast, butter, charred wood and smoke. Medium (+) taste of yellow apples, pear, peach, ripe lemon, toast, brioche, butter, charred wood and smoke. Long and dry finish. High acidity. Medium body. A very good English Sparkling with great potential for development. Needed 15 min in the glass to open. Drink now or over the next twenty years. Goes well as an aperitif, or with cured meat.

Yeasty nose, lemon and tropical fruit. Wild nose - mango and rose petal. Never had an English wine that smelt like this. Apparently it's typical of the vineyard. On the palate tangerines, orange peel, tinned satsumas. Then long. Very distinctive fruit-led style. I like this a lot. 78% Pinot Noir 22% Chard 48 months on lees 8.5g RS
