93 Points

Tuesday, March 8, 2011 - Colour is deep lemon or light gold. Nose is fully developed with medium intensity and has aromas I associate more with white Rhone than Burgundy: quince and orange peel, apple and notes of oxidative winemaking and spices like anise. Also floral, sweet lemon and honey notes on the background. Although alcohol is only 13 the nose has a slight spirity feel. Oak is perfectly integrated and I find no mineral aromas here. Palate is full and flavourful with tangerine, quince and apple notes and lovely oily texture. Acidity is med+ and balances fine and finish is long. I believe the wine is at optimum stage of development now. First time I drink a wine from Chateau de Fuisse and I am impressed! However, had I tasted this wine blind I would bet it was a Hermitage or like and in no way would I go to Chardonnay...
