92 Points

Thursday, September 7, 2006 - Consumed with braised short ribs and homemade pasta. In the glass, dark red with tints of orange and purple, but still clear. On the nose, dark fruits, a hint of nutmeg, and the slightest tinge of funk, which blew off after about 20 minutes. On the palate, silky dark cherry with notes of nutmeg and cinnamon, with a somewhat tannic edge that never quite went away, with a moderate finish. Still, there is no mistaking the quality level here, and this may still come together with a few more years.
