No issues with the cork on this one. Color was a brownish purple with clear signs that this has some age on it. First whiff was earth, barnyard which blew off after about 5 minutes. A little harsh on the first taste but again after 5 minutes it blew off to show one of the best Pinot experiences I've had. Much better than the last one. Wish I had a few more of these

Time has been kind to this bottle. No discernible tannins, just pure silky fruit, subtle minerality, and persistent spice and floral aromatics. If you have any, I'd guess this is now at or near its peak.

The cork crumbled on opening, so not a good start at all. I was expecting this to be horrible, but was pleasantly surprised given the start. Nose is classic russian river; cola, cherries, floral. Taste was equally nice, with strawberry, cranberry, cola. Finish was a bit short, but somewhat expected given the age. I was hoping for much better, but still a very good to great wine..

Would never have guessed it was a 10+ year old cali pinot. It has held up excellent - what a great bottle. I have no idea what the tasting note was below mine... but it can be ignored. This was a great cali pinot.

Ruby color with a rim that is turning orange. Barely recognizable as Pinot noir. This hot, overly extracted monster is disgusting. Coffee, cola, heat --- yuck. Too bad as the owners are very nice people. But to be honest, this stuff is terrible. Not flawed, just not good. Very surprised by the other notes on this wine. (70)

Very impressive Sonoma Pinot. Nice texture and balance. All red fruit - strawberry and raspberry are still quite prominent, with some very subtle earthy aspects starting to appear after the bottle was open two hours. Moderate length. I think this wine has some real upside potential to develop into an elegant Pinot Noir in another 4-6 years. Bravo to Kerry and team.

Open 24 hours. Still well-colored. Good legs. Decent fruit; smoky. Very big and full on the palate with black cherry in abundance. What it lacks in complexity it makes up for in power and fruitiness. 5-11-17-7: 90/100.

Still very youthful. Not so aromatic, but focused berry and cranberry flavors. With significant aeration, got a little mushroom. Very concentrated and focused. I think this wine's best days are still ahead.

Decanted and served immediately. In the glass, dark red fading gently to orange at the rim, slightly opaque. On the nose, an utterly pure aroma of dark ripe cherries. On the palate, silky texture with more cherries, and subtle notes of pinot spice; the tannins have almost completely melted away. This is a relatively one-dimensional fruit-driven wine, but what fruit it is. The remaining tannins will be resolved within the next year, but if you're feeling like you need an RRV fruit fix, no worries if you open it right now.

Out of magnum. Overall a well made wine. The nose was quite obviously Green Valley with wonderful Pinot material. However there was just a touch of sweetness that was off putting. No signs of heat on the nose or palate, the wine was a bit rich and the finish was long and complete. This could have been several points higher without the sweetness.

I was expecting more than what this bottle showed. Dark ruby with almost no signs of age. Dark berry and forest floor aromas. Medium body with good acidity and a smooth, but not silky, mouthfeel. Well structured with powerful dark fruit, earth and spice flavors, but with what I thought was a slightly unpleasant vegetal/herbaceous component -- almost like it was picked slightly underripe. Without the vegetal flavor I would have rated this wine in the low to mid-90s, because everything else about it was very good. Tasted like a much younger wine and probably has several years of life remaining.

Tasting Of DuMol Wines (The Wine Summit – Post Hotel, Lake Louise): Lighter in colour than the 2005 – perhaps tending toward a garnet hue; penetrating, warm nose – fine complexity – notes of roasted coffee – hazelnuts – dark cherry; elegantly styled – shows fine acidity; more of a cherry preserve flavours – a slight note of bitterness on the edge; finishes much shorter than the 2005; overall comes across as a lesser wine than the 2005, with its potential.

Kerry Murphy and Andy Smith presented 7 incredible wines at the Post Hotel Wine Summit in Lake Louise, Alberta Canada. This wine was part of a 7 glass technical tasting from DuMol. Kerry and Andy did a splendid job of providing background on the winery and the specifics of the wine. This was an earthy ruby colored pinot. This tasting followed some big chards so it was difficult to gain perspective. After a few more Ryan;s and Eddies, I came back to this wine. Nice. Dry and gamey in a good way. I got plum and florals and cherry. In this technical tasting, I’d say this was very good but I enjoyed the 05 better.

CB: Amazing wine. The nose was so complex and changed every time I went for a wiff. That's when I know I'm having an experience and not just a drink. In the end, I got notes of baked cherry, and spiced tea with some truffle and a hint of flower. Palate was consistent with the nose and just equisite with wonderful balance of tannins and acidity, and a long finish. It was a strong wine with lots of fruit but not your typical fruit bomb by any means. Made me sad to see the bottle empty.

TB: Popped and poured into a decanter for about an hour. Meant to have this with the pasta dinner dish, but screwed up the sauce and decided a chard was a better match. Cranberry color with some lightening at the edges. Wonderfully expressive nose of mocha and rich baked cherry pie filling after about an hour of air time. Palate showed mocha and some black cherry. More time showed some bramble fruit and a slightly sweet herbal component. Nice mouthfeel, slight acidity with not much tannic kick, but a well balanced wine nonetheless. Really drinking beautifully, showing a medium to long finish. Thanks to Sacred Cow for gifting us this wonderful bottle.

Delicious, it was so good that Jessica who DOESNOT drink wine had to have some. The best pinot, I have had in the past month, exceeding anything tasted at the Gevrey-Chambertin BYO tasting dinner at DUO, Miami, and the 94 Romanee-Conti La Tache Suzanne offered me at lunch today at River Tavern in Chester, CT. Light raspberry, blackberry aromas and flavor. Seems to be beginning to develop complex secondary and tertiary flavors. Will keep my other one for 2 to 3 years to see what develops. Tasted October 21, 2006 at a blind tasting. Opened and served immediately in a Spiegelau Authentis Balloon Magnum glass. Dusty rose color in the glass, slightly opaque. Nose of blackberries, pepper, potpourri and soft brown spices. Flavors of raspberries, black cherries, red currants (?) and pepper. Medium acidity, tannins and body. Drink or hold. My guess is this is the Dumol that preferred brought.

Tasted at Resurrection Cup III, 1/21/2006. Group ranking first place, with two 1st and two 2nd place votes.
On the nose and the palate, brighter fruits that leaned from cherry towards strawberry, with a little cola mixed in. Medium to full-bodied for a pinot, a little less hefty than some of the monsters. I did not see the depth of flavor that the other tasters apparently saw, but did like the forest floor element that came into the medium length finish.
The funny thing is, I opened a bottle of this the week before. I did not take notes that night, but I loved the bottle. However, expecting to be bombarded with many bottles of Kistler on the night, I figured there was no way the tasters would go for something this complex. They threw me a curveball. I shall not be caught underestimating the tasters again.
