Sunday, September 4, 2011 - My last one of these, and I wish I had more. Bought on auction, this had apparently been treated well prior to landing in my cellar. On the nose, "wildly" aromatic, animalistic yet balanced - spice, a hint of floral, and a ton of meat, bacon and leather. On the palate - seems at peak. Rich fruits in a completely resolved package. No out-of-place tannins or acidity to get in the way, everything has morphed into an integrated and balanced package, especially after this has been opened for 30-45 minutes. Most syrahs in my house don't last 9 years past vintage, so this is quite a treat.
