Monday, April 9, 2012 - Absolute knock out and still very young at this stage; the 2001 was like a right bank first growth on steroids. It is multiple times better than any Sassicaia vintage I had so far. Lots of flowers and dark berries on the nose, didn't need much time to open up. On the palate, a good balance of fruit and fresh crisp tannins that are likely to integrate even better over the next 5 years. Drink after 2018. Unfortunately I only have one bottle left and it's difficult to source.
