Friday, April 13, 2007 - 14.5% alc...50/50 Syrah-Grenache...

Really captivating nose, wet black topsoil, spicy-sweet black and red fruit...on the palate this wine has some pretty serious structure for an ATP wine - not something I normally associate with many of these wines - sweet red fruit, vanilla, cocoa...really long finish that begs to be put down for some time with all the structure this wine possesses. Draper notes that this wine saw 30 months of barrel time because the Syrah was so structured, it seems as if the Grenache softened the wine quite a bit - the oak needs to be absorbed for me to throoughly enjoy the wine. I like this wine and have had nice results with ATP in '06.
