Probably at its peak. Purchased from Ridge a few months ago so provenance was likely very good, essentially zero ullage. Cork was about to fall apart with a typical corkscrew, but came out just fine with an Ah So. Deep ruby with basically zero bricking, if anything a hint of garnet around the edge. Delicious red and black fruits on the nose. Plum and baking spice. Palate is more dark fruit with resolved tannin and still apparent acidity. Tasted blind this was pegged for a BDX blend. Not sure if I got a unicorn bottle, but this was stellar

Delicious 50/50 Syrah/Grenache blend. ATP release. Stored perfectly since release. Second bottle in the last six months and this one is even better than the first. Syrah dominates but Grenache helps balance out the bigger wine. Has many years left but at its peak now.

Stored perfectly since it was purchased directly from the winery. ATP. Still tannic. Syrah prevalent, dominates. Very tasty. Opened up nicely. Balanced, well integrated.

Medium-dark red color with limited transparency. Aromas of sweet red fruit, plum, blueberry, and some vanilla/floral elements. Palate has currant, blueberry, raspberry, pepper and some olive notes that lead into a medium-long finish that has a few unresolved tannins still poking out. This is close to prime-time for my tastes. Drink or hold.

Stunning wine. Almost 10 years old. Dark red and the taste is dominated by the Syrah. Easily a 93 point wine. Rich, round and long. A real pleasure. A wine that stopped conversation as people contemplated

- Purple color with medium forming legs and aromas of blackberry, coffee and alcohol as well some grape jolly rancher. It's balanced and has flavours of black currant, blackberry and molasses with a full body. Fleshy texture with a long finish. Not sure if this was a hot vintage but the alcohol on the nose is prevalent. On the taste, it is hidden in a volumptuous spectrum of varied dark fruits. Modern, new world, fruity, and well made.

This is a seriously good wine. In its drinking window. Lovely deep purple in color. Smells of blackberry fruit. No oak notes on the nose. While this wine is 50% Syrah and 50% Grenache, the Syrah dominates the taste profile. Big, rich and round. Tannins give some nice grip as you approach the finish. Long. Excellent!

With Tenderloin steak, roast potatoes and carrots. Visual: bordeaux, with lightest hint of purple, and a touch of brick at the rim. No longer opaque, but clear and mature. Peper, tar, licorish, dark dark fuit, Tannins resolved. Good length, on and on. My last bottle, unfortunately. A very nice wine.

(edited) Brought this bottle to a restaurant. Was decanted for about an hour before drinking. By that time, the fruit was mostly gone. The wine was smooth, pleasant very drinkable - with a bit of lingering oak towards the finish. Based on this experience, I would say the fruit notes will be gone from this wine soon. Would drink now.

Saturated dark red color, nearly opaque. Aromas of creme de cassis, plum, blueberry, raspberry jam, and some Draper perfume. Flavors are full with an almost jammy blueberry and raspberry fruit that is joined by some licorice and meat notes that carry into a long finish that has a strong tannic grip. Hold or decant. Throwing a moderate crust onto the side of the bottle at this point.

Scary, dbk... hits it perfect. G then S. Well integrated, smooth drinking, mature w some life. DAy II, last tastes from the glass. Dusty dirty red. Meaty nose, dried fruit, herb. Still livley, structured. Really well made and running nice for a Grenache blend. LIttle dry on the attack tonight, but fun drinking regional wine w the draper touch.

Dark blend. Some green notes, and get that hot black top soil as well. Tad of dry oak. Nice mouth feel, sharp acid and balanced fruit, finishes with rough tannins and a lingering meaty earthy dried blue/red fruit. Lingers nicely. Interesting wine by itself or good with some rough gamey meat.

Drinking very nicely. Fruit is still very evident, surprisingly so for an '03, but rounder tannins and gentle mouthfeel. I think it will drink well past 2011, but it's great right now. The grenache is more prominent up front, with a nice long syrah finish.

Ripe. Best described overall as a ripe, perhaps 'too old' wine from a ripe vintage. Nose is pruney, bit of violets, some perfume - none too wonderful. Mouthfeel is nice, good blast of ripeness (not overripe) at the forepalate, some dark fruits, more of the pruney nature, then some stemminess and bitterness that is typical to me on a wine that seems to be just a bit over-ripe. I'm not getting much of a spice, either, which is odd with the two varieties that make up this bottle.

The syrah is softening and losing its punch and the grenache is more noticeable now. The syrah still lends some structure to balance the sweet grenache. Felt hot.

11/17/08: Brick red color with an interesting nose of earth, pepper, anise and red fruits. The tastes are red and black fruit, vanilla, tobacco, pepper and earth. This is a well crafted beautiful balanceed wine with sturcture and layers, bright acidity, muted oak and soft tannis and a long fihish

Excellent. Well-balanced, with enough acidity to keep it fresh. Loaded with crushed red fruit. Complex nose, long finish. Drinking beautifully now, but this should have no problem lasting 5 to 10 years.

Nice balance the first night. The structure and depth of the syrah kept the grenache in check. On the second day the wine had completely changed, now the grenache was dominant and it was too sweet and fruity for my tastes. I'm not sure how this will age. If the syrah gets any softer, I'm afraid I won't like the next bottle as much as I did this one.

A little disappointing. I thought the nose smelled of Silly Putty and not much else, plus a little alcohol. Sarah thought that it opened up quite a bit as we finished off the bottle. I found the actual wine a little thin with some nice dark fruit flavor, but with a really quick finish. Although there was alcohol on the nose, it was a well balanced wine.
In short, I expected the Grenache to be more assertive and the syrah to help make this a huge wine. It could be bottle-shocked or transport-shocked I guess as it was recently bottled and sent to my house from CA. I will store and taste carefully the other three bottles.

Really captivating nose, wet black topsoil, spicy-sweet black and red fruit...on the palate this wine has some pretty serious structure for an ATP wine - not something I normally associate with many of these wines - sweet red fruit, vanilla, cocoa...really long finish that begs to be put down for some time with all the structure this wine possesses. Draper notes that this wine saw 30 months of barrel time because the Syrah was so structured, it seems as if the Grenache softened the wine quite a bit - the oak needs to be absorbed for me to throoughly enjoy the wine. I like this wine and have had nice results with ATP in '06.

first ATP shipment! absolutely delicious wine, fine balance, smooth tannins, pure fruit. not jammy at all, more like fruit essence, and plenty of it. served with mahi seared in hazelnut oil with calamata/pecan tapenade dressing. man was that a good match. excellent food wine. we're going to put the other one away for a few years, but I am considering ordering more.
