Friday, October 18, 2013 - Parkerisation in a bottle. Is it a good wine? Yes. Is it a good Cotes-du-Rhone? No. Saturated purple, displaying a sweet, oak-infused nose with bramble fruit, vanilla, lactic overtones, and some beef blood. Thick and viscous on the palate, monolithic, a big chunk of fruit, no light or shade, just a syrup of young ripe fruit and alcohol. Finishes cleanly, no spikes, but no complexity either. 1/3 of Syrah / Gren / Mourv each. You can just about make out the Syrah and there's the herby beef blood of the Mourvedre present. No sign of the Grenache. No sign of the garrigue. Drinks like a blackberry milkshake topped up with brandy.
