Thursday, December 29, 2016 - Ten Champagnes tasting: 100% Pinot Noir (made by macerating the Pinot Noir grapes on their skins). "Pinot Noir first, Champagne second", said Brandon. Deep rusty red. A bouquet of blood orange, raspberry, strawberry, smoke and beetroot. Round, creamy and plush in the mouth. Raspberries, redcurrant and other red and a little blue fruit, with savoury, almost earthy elements and minerals. Nothing wrong with the winemaking here, this Champagne is just not in a style I like very much.
