Disgorged February, 2023, 2 grams. Deep rosé color. Moderate fine bead. Strong floral and strawberry scents. Medium to lighter, delicate feel. Red berries and spice, very good acidity, dry and chalky with light tannin.

I am really not a Rosé fan and also struggle with this wine. On the one hand there is good, ripe material in use here, with appropriate phenolics and a dry finish. I just don't find the aromas as attractive as with a normal Champagne. Lots of blackberry, cherry, earthy elements, some herbs, bitter finish as well. I guess I will stick to the excellent BdB's of this grower. 88-90

Very dusty nose at first with an extremely scowl on the palate. A carafe allowed the wine to hatch properly.
Nose of red fruits, smoke and an earthy side.
Mouth with a nice tension, the earthy and spicy aromas dominate, with in the background a diffuse red fruit. One thing is certain, it is that we are not facing a bleeding rosé with immediate pleasure that explodes in the mouth. It is a more cerebral wine, the whole remains strict as often with the house wines that I have tasted. Nice balance that extends into a good spicy and tannic finish. We are clearly on a red wine with bubbles.
Good, but it takes time to get it. What's more, for 90€ nowadays, I prefer to take something else.

Family Holidays; 7/28/2023-9/10/2023 (Alicante - España): A champagne rosé obtained by bleeding system, which is made by maceration of the ripe grapes of Pinot Noir. For some purists, this is the true rosé. Excellent biodynamic expression of pinot noir with a small percentage of pinot gris (10%). On the nose are some brittle mineral notes, white fruit and wild strawberries. On the palate those subtle bubbles give way to a soft texture, insufficient acidity and delicious aftertaste. At least a true reflection of this champagne house.

At a private dinner, Brisbane. This a bright Champagne with dollops pf rich Pinot fruit expressed as wild strawberry, blood orange and tart cherries balanced with an intense minerality and grip that makes this a quite distinct expression. There is plenty of persistence with a sneaky line of cherry fruit that continues to balance the rich front palate richness.

Lunch at La T (La Trompette): Lighter colour than usual, more strawberry than raspberry. Subdued strawberry fruit on the nose. More aperitif than pudding I think, this lacks the deep fruit and mid-palate padding of previous cuvées. Refreshing though. ***

An Epic Summer Wine Weekend - Year 2; 6/30/2023-7/2/2023 (Muskoka, Ontario, Canada): This pours light pink in the glass. The nose is straightforward and enjoyable of raspberry, strawberry, white cherry, chalk dust, and white flowers. The palate is well balanced with white cherry and raspberry dominating. Dosage feels like 6 g/l with high acid and a moderate length finish. All in all this was a nice bottle if lacking some of the fireworks you might hope for given the reputation of the producer. In particular this bottle was not terribly rich or autolytic which are traits I value, and to my palate this bottle is behind the Longitude which I adore.

Bienvenue a Champagne; 4/20/2023-4/29/2023 (Les Crayeres, various restaurants, Les Avises and a many wonderful producers): Base wine is 2020. Disgorged Nov of 2022. This is a blend of PN and Pinot Gris (not so common) from a single plot. 3 days in concrete egg for Mas creation. Lots of berries, very bright, very pretty. It’s an easier lighter style of bubbles and yet there’s quite a lot of interest there. Bubbles are very fine and light and add to the enjoyment. Like a fresh strawberry field in the spring.

Deep salmon in color. Aromas of lifted red berries, orange citrus oils, hint of baking spice gives way to a very vibrant Pinot based Champagne with captivating acidity, good depth to the pinot berry fruit and a floral and mineral tinged finish. This is very good.

Uniquely polarizing wine. The color suggest something other than what the palate delivered. Not sweet, great toast/yeast and fizzle. Would be fun to try this wine with a bit of age to see what that offers. Seems to have a bit of a cult following in the industry.

Man, I just go back and forth with this wine, whether I like it or not. In the case of the bottle last weekend, I just didn't like it all that much. And it's hard for me to say that about the LB wines because across the range from Arthur Larmandier, I buy and enjoy all of them. But this Rose, it's just kind of meh for me. Green apple, with a burnished red fruit, kiwi and tang, along with a raspberry syrup. Aside from the short-lived Maturation Rose program that the winery did and relelesed a few vintages of, a wine I really dug and still open, this other version of Rose is just kind of clunky and not to my liking.

Medium Acidity Medium Alcohol Medium Bodied Aggressive Mousse Medium Finish
Medium (-) Intensity - Raspberry, Strawberry, Red Cherry, Butter, Biscuits, Toast, Almond, Chalk, Paprika
Red fruits and autolytic flavours, some spice and mineral, not much acidity, very dry finish. Interesting blend of 90% Pinot Noir and 10% Pinot Gris, not a typical rosé, feels a bit more robust and rustic.

I'm loyal to this champagne... It's full of all...full of pinot noir, full of deep red colour, full of red fruit jam.. It's unusual but so good. It can stand vigorously vs spicy dishes ,tuna, (+ see food pairing below) One can find it expensive, but the value is there

Peking duck with Adam and Jason: Well this is different. Dark, dark color, more of a sparkling red. Heavy Pinot Noir profile, deeply saturated raspberry. This takes a while to wrap your head around, but it is an intense and cool wine. And so, so good with Peking Duck!

Burgundy WIMPS 2022 (La Trompette, Chiswick): A lovely and generous bonus wine from Tom. I am brought back to my childhood with a distinct Corona cherryade character to the nose. There is a freshly cored Bramley apple thing too. Strawberry bonbon. Lovely.

The etch on this bottle was not great but I can decipher a 2020 disgorgement, and what appeared to be a 17 for the base. I keep wanting to like the L-B Saignee and yet another time I find that I am just not that engaged by it. I just kind of feel like the wine was lost on me again. I didn't even jot the notes down. Oddly, when I had the 2013 Maturation a few months back, now that wine was engaging and I really enjoyed it. I think my chase now is to get another bottle, but wait for the 2018 base to show up on the shelf and then try it.

One for me "new" producer among the many thousands from Champagne, highly recommended by a wine friend, a fresh bottle from the wine market, this one is showing the full load of cassis, intense on both nose and palate, the bubbles less intense as in many other champagne bottles, so this is creamy limy balanced, fruity cassis with some grapefruit aromas though, overall in consideration of the price tag not fully convinced tonight, follow up once again, *(**- ?)

Wimps Thankgsiving Lunch - Connor Table; 11/25/2021-11/26/2021 (La Trompette): An extra treat kindly bought off the list by I and N. There is a lot to be said for finishing lunch with Champagne - and this was lovely. By this stage I'm sure I was very susceptible to autosuggestion but there was a lovely vinous complexity to this - which I imagine is somewhat contributed to by it being made in the saignée style (which I understand is the way that *most* non-champagne rosés are made - while in Champagne they're often made by bending in red wine to white wine).
Anyway - really lovely - will look out for this in future.

Winetasting Exclusief at Utregs Wijnhuis (Utregs Wijnhuis): [Tasted blind] incorrectly identified it as a high end rose cava. Premier cru rose from a single vineyard in cote de blancs. Made from pinot noir and pinot gris as a true rose wine, as opposed to the blending that usually happens. Direct after opening a strong spirits (window cleaning chemical) that overshadows the other aroma's. Better after 30 minutes, after which it shows grapefruit, orange red currant, strawberry, dough. Long finish

Decided to enroll in the WSG "Champagne masters " course to pass the time as the lockdown enters month 14.... Picked this one up as an example of a Rose de Saigne
Gorgeous deep salmon color.
Pronounced and evolved aromas of red fruits (strawberry), some citrus, baking spice and autolytic aromas. A touch of oxidization on the nose takes away a bit of the freshness.
Medium bodied with plenty of acidity and similar flavor characteristics. There is definitely more weight on the palate than their other cuvees. The finish is medium plus.
Overall a delicious and "vinous" rose that drank well with a variety of Italian dishes- burrata, tuna crudo and some simple pastas. This would have scored a bit higher if there wasn't that oxidized note on the nose.
No disgorgement info on the label so no comment on how old this was or on cellaring potential.

In reading the bottle etching code, this is 2013 base, disgorged 09/2016, and I am pretty sure this is made with 90% Pinot Noir and 10% Pinot Blanc, 2 grams of dosage. Opened yesterday, just a tiny bit of CO2 is left making this a still wine today. Peachy/amber in color. I was underwhelmed with this yesterday, as it seemed to lack complexity. Today, about the same, with some licorice, strawberry and a bitter-like note into the finish, perhaps the licorice I am trying to convey. The aromatics convey a freshness that I like, but I don't care for the bitterness and some of the weight that seems to be here. I'm a committed L-B fan, and I have lots of the cuvees in my cellar, but for the $72 I paid for this, I'd rather spend that on Terre de Vertus or Longitude, honestly.

PnP and enjoyed but unnoticed if that makes any sense? Typically not an extra brut fan however was turned onto this champagne after thoroughly enjoying the 2010 extra Brut. This is not the same quality wine however it is enjoyable. Further to my surprise is my usual adversion to overly acidic wine/champagne but this one left me wanting a bit more lift to keep the softer fruitier side in balance. A very feminine display (good thing) of lighter red fruits, a hint of chalk with a beautiful thin line of minerality. Two things holding this back from cracking 90 (1) a bitter note at the end and (2) a short finish plus the lack of complexity limits an advancement much more above 90 had those two items been resolved. I paid $80 which is over priced for this wine IMO.

Tasted as part of an online masterclass with Pierre Larmandier. Base 2017, deg. Jan 2020, 90% Pinot Noir and 10% Pinot Gris from Vertus, 3 g/L dosage. Very deep amber color, and beautiful playful nose of bread, red berry fruits, peach, roses, and nuts. Quite vinous and savory, this is an elegant and restrained Rose Champagne that would go well with most foods. Very fine bead and barely crosses the line from still wine to Sparkler.

Disgorgement not engraved on the bottle as usual. Light salmon color upon pouring. This was exactly as we remembered it, true to its style: lots of red fruits such as wild strawberries, raspberries, cranberries, pink grapefruit, oranges, and blood oranges; gentle spiciness with pepper and some ginger which gives way to a lot of smoke, and a gamy hint with some blood and iron. We find this saignée quite correct with everything in its place, but it’s not the most stimulating, nor the most intense; enjoyable to drink, but without much thought, perhaps more adequate as a first experience with this style of rosé. Theres just something missing, although we’re not sure what. There’s not much point in ageing this; it can be drunk immediately. 88pt

I have cellered for about 8 years. Lovely strawberry color. Fine bead -almost a froth on pour indicating lovely vitality and energy. Restrained elegance on the palate.... feels quite ‘bespoke’ when compared to other champagnes. Very enjoyable. Probably at its peak but will not fade in a hurry if it’s been well cellared.

wonderful color, pink / orange salmon which seduces. Initially mute, with evident minerality and medium body, some strawberries and redcurrant in the aftertaste. At a certain point in time - to my surprise - clear notes of pinot noir become evident and catch all the senses: I never drank a rose with these unconventional notes, which are very attractive (and for sure due to the peculiar process typical of rose' de Saignee). But overall it is somehow short on expectations, probably due to a variable performance of this rose' from year to year. In a cloudy midday where crosses meet blades with climax reached at last, celebrating a number of events starting from J7 (and 10 yellow boots)

Red hue, typical for a rosé de saignée delicate bubbles and nose of fresh red fruits Perfect balance, freshness All in, I have to confirm that this champagne is the perfect companion for fine dining
The grapes (100% Pinot Noir) are allowed to macerate for several days before the juice is drawn off and it is this 'soak' that gives the colour and much of the body and flavour to the wine. This technique is now extremely rare in Champagne--it is a demanding method of vinification that requires grapes with an excellent degree of maturity.
Pale Salmon Nose is so unique...cranberry, strawberry, smoke, herbs, minerals and subtle floral notes...this has a wild edge that I just love. The palate has a really creamy texture and opens with strawberry cream candy, mint, wild herbs, pain grille, red flowers and spice. Finish is long....this is fantastic....stunning actually.
My first time with this one. I wish they would put a disgorgement/base year date on these as I have no idea on this, but I did buy it late December 2019 from a retailer with lots of turnover, so I will guess 2014 base year based on TNs below. Whatever it is I like it. Not a typical rose champagne. Strawberrry, cream, orange peel and humus. But still dry. Great aperitif wine.

Ripe red fruit and a round mouthfeel characterize the bottle. There is a forward and luscious quality. Almost like strawberry and raspberry fresh sweet cream complemented by floral tones. I prefer a more savory style of saignee but this was delicious and would likely be a crowd pleaser.

New Year's (Chicago, IL): I'm not sure what happened here -- this bottle must be primarily from the 2011 vintage, because it tastes like 2004 red Burgundy with bubbles. Thin, insipid, and weedy. Given the lack of disgorgement/lot information on this wine, I will now be approaching this bottling with a wary eye.

i purchased this in 2017; so i'm guessing this was a 2013 base vintage. frankly, i'm a fan of this producer, but not this wine. there was a lack of finesse to this wine, possibly due to not enough acid. it just laid there on the palate rather clumsily. no nuance, and while i do enjoy some wines that are 1 note, the note on this wine was not one i actually liked. very disappointing for me.

My btl and same btl as R&Rler. I agree with his notes. Champagne can be a minefield at those midland price points of $60-$100. They're good but many are no better than a well sought out $30-$40 Champagne. When you get to the $90 plus Tete level and drink DOM, Comte, Krug and Cristal they all, seem to rock. I just can't afford many of those but there's a big jump in intrigue, concentration and intensity when you get $100 plus Tete champagnes. My last of these and I'll seek out other rose's to try.

Big Guns: Burgs and Bordeaux at Bellecour (Bellecour, Mpls, MN): Medium pink color. This is pretty representative of past bottles. A riper, bigger style of red fruits, bold strawberry, raspberry, and tart red currant on the nose. The palate comes off largely as ripe red berries. Maybe a bit more one dimensional this time. I like this, but I will admit to finding myself being a bit less enthused the more I drink this though.

Had a case of this for 7 or 8 years. Pale. Still lean, with fine mouse. Tart strawberry. Just starting to fade. Still very distinctive and full of personality compared to most roses. A champagne that can be enjoyed out of a Burgundy glass matched to the right food.

Single Blind Chablis Grand Cru Le Clos (Octo Fish Bar, St. Paul, MN): Medium Copper River Salmon Red. Drank 1 glass over 30 minutes. Candied red fruits on the nose, ripe fruit, very forward, yeasty. On the palate this shows macerated ripe strawberries, intense ripe red fruit, sous bois, a good dose of minerality which peaks on the finish, seems a bit higher on the doasge. Very vinous and fuller bodied. I enjoy this, though it strikes me more like a fruit driven domestic sparkler than Champagne. Very much in line with my previous notes. 91+pts.
Turns out I am on the same list as a good friend in Portland since I knew this wine sounded familiar. No detailed notes, but enjoyable. Very dry rose. One of those wines that wants food with it and once you have it (St Andre with homemade quince jam) it brightened up.

2010 base, DG 01/2013. Bright salmon, red-tinged color, with a fine stream of bubbles. Nose is open for business, with aromas of tangerine, deep red cherry, warm bread crust, chalk and spice. The palate is complex and well-structured, including orange and tangerine, red cherry pit, and some savory/umami flavors. There seems to be a strong soil signature with chalky minerality, carrying through the long, energetic finish. Drink this wine now through 2020+. A very special wine.

Unfortunately I am not sure about the base vintage and disgorgement date. Pretty deep but shiny salmon color, First slightly muted, also clipping a little on the mid-palate. But quickly gaining depth and weight in the glass. After about 20-30 minutes it's showing interesting notes of blood orange, cranberry, also some red cherries, chalky mineral notes, some white pepper and flowery notes too. It's medium+ bodied with small bubbles and a lot of tension, pretty high acidity cutting through the viscosity. Very good length. Ends with a touch of bitterness. A fascinating Rosé de Saignée. On day 3 much more aromatic with beautiuflly pure notes of small red berries, sweet spices and nice minerality and pepper. Excellent tension and texture.

NV LARMANDIER- BERNIER ROSE de SAIGNEE 1ER CRU- some research indicates this is 100% Pinot Noir from the 2014 vintage sourced from what is arguably the oldest Pinot Noir vineyard in Vertus; it is made from an extended maceration, naturally fermented, raised in Mombot concrete egg and partly in stainless steel; it was disgorged December, 2016 with a dosage of 3 gr/l.
Tasting notes: the Saignee method gives rise to the remarkable pinkish-red colour that eeks through the frosted glass bottle; it`s got such a different “rose” taste profile with mild hints of cinnamon, spice, cola and more especially clove to accent bing cherry, red cherry and even some rhubarb which I rarely experience in a rose; on the palate, it had just a little bite to it; this is a different breed of cat and I`m not sure what I think about it, but I have another bottle to re-visit later on and decide.

Not indicated on the label because of shorter then compulsory time of bottle aging for vintage champagne, this is in fact a single vintage rosé from 2014. Disgorged April 2017. Age of vines is 40 to 60 years. Dosage 3gr. The wine seems to be still too young, not evolved fully. Very clean and impeccably balanced, elegant. Expressive notes of frozen red and white fruits, full mouthfeel, broad, very fresh, light yet rich. Sensual and very attractive. A potential masterpiece when gaining some age.

The fruit is very red, strawberry and rhubarb tart, cherry lollipop, a hint of sharp copper, crushed white pepper and mineral. Medium concentration, slightly coarse mousse and shy mousse, bright acidity, strong mineral presence and a medium finish that is slightly bitter. I agree with TCOSGRIFF on bitterness and lacking depth and nuance. I however like the bright red fruit. Perhaps I need to find out which release this came from.

The nose was incredibly pretty with notes of fresh strawberry, sweet florals and hints of herbs. On the palate, I found soft textures offset by zesty acidity with tart red fruits, florals and spice. It finished long with lingering strawberry, cranberry and floral tones. This is very pretty.

Last of the summer sampler box of grower champagne roses we have been trying this summer. Quite a bright and deep pink color on this one and a bit of barnyard funk on the nose which I find quite uncommon in in champagne. The bubbles on this are on the lighter side and dissipate fairly quickly. On the palate this is enjoyable with some deeper tones to the fruit, it hits first with the lemony acidity but lingers a bit on the mid and back palate with red fruit. Quite nice - would be happy to drink again but probably have some better choices given the $70 price tag. My go to will remain the Chartogne Taillet at $49/bottle.

Lovely raspberry color with good, but short-lived bubbles. Bouquet and flavor of raspberries but with a bit of greenness, making the wine less appealing, but still enjoyable enough and better than the first bottle. The impression might have reflected the setting, as my wife and I were back at our favorite Vietnamese restaurant having wonderful udon noodles with a mélange of vegetables and chicken. Very tasty, and as Julia Child would have said: "Bon appetite."

Interesting experience with this. Started out a little thin, then with air it picked up some tones of red fruits, like strawberry. I know this is dosed low but it didn't come off lean like a few other low dose things I have been drinking. In sum, while I like it, I am still preferring the Dethune NV, which seems to have better complexity.

I do like L-B's presentation, and the frosted bottle here looks especially good. Fairly deep orange-pink. Distinctive nose with red fruit, but also rather vegetal. The shop assistant said it had a metallic tang, and I can see exactly what he meant. Blood orange and a touch of grapefruit; quite spicy. This is, as I was led to believe, a very different kind of pink champagne, or rather, a light red wine with bubbles. It's fairly challenging and robust, and could work well with meat, perhaps rack of lamb or rosé veal. [Cork + cage; 12.5% abv; WoodWinters, £47].

Nose of cherry, mandarin orange, strawberry, and slate, nice mousse, large amount of tiny bubbles, big body, very tasty, a champagne for lovers of Pinot Noir, bold with an attitude, and a long, long finish.

This was a present, had I have to pay for this 50+, I would give it 89-90. I like the low acidity some smoke and raspberry smell - very different from other champagnes. Very enjoyable indeed.

Dark magenta, much richer and darker in style than typical Champagne, but maintains nice freshness. The nose has strawberry and raspberry, floral notes, hints of melon. The palate has nice depth and richness but still feels fresh and tasty with nice mousse. Quite tasty, but expect a different style of bubbly.

Quite floral on the nose along with intense cherry and beetroot and tomato leaf notes. It is savoury and earthy with root vegetable flavours mixing it up with sweet berry and mineral. An intriguing, complex wine full of interesting things.

I like it for what it is, which is a casual drink - something I'd consider as a part of Champagne proper, if related only by marriage. Very approachable; this is probably best for newcomers to Champagne. That said, it wouldn't be a bad option for a salad on the patio on a warm summer's day, either. If you can enjoy it for what it is, it's more fun than anything too sober.
PnP, served non-blind. Keep it around 45F-50F, at most.

Ten Champagnes tasting: 100% Pinot Noir (made by macerating the Pinot Noir grapes on their skins). "Pinot Noir first, Champagne second", said Brandon. Deep rusty red. A bouquet of blood orange, raspberry, strawberry, smoke and beetroot. Round, creamy and plush in the mouth. Raspberries, redcurrant and other red and a little blue fruit, with savoury, almost earthy elements and minerals. Nothing wrong with the winemaking here, this Champagne is just not in a style I like very much.

Champagne Flight (Tofino Wines, San Francisco): Bright pink, very frothy. Funky nose. Unpleasant, dirty flavors throughout, horrible finish. I am pretty sure that this was corked, although the proprietor disagreed. If not, they have a real problem. Both of the Larmandier wines were wretched today.

Fantastic rose champagne, not as berry or fruit forward, which was refreshing. Still a nice bread/yeasty note in the background, complex midpalate. In my limited experience, the best rose champagne I have had.

Saturday hangout (Chicago, IL): Annoyingly, there's no disgorgement or lot information on the label here. I found this a very lovely example of a rose champagne, and it didn't display disjointedness that I sometimes find in saignee champagnes. This was a seamless package (perhaps too seamless), with some really compelling stone fruit flavours. There's a lovely mineral cut here that gives this a much-needed dose of freshness.

Great tannins and acidity. Flavours of red currant, cherry, red apple peel and pink grapefruit. I think it demands food with it, would go nicely even with some heavier meat?

Holy Jack, this is crazy good. Pretty deep red in color, with notes of red cherries and raspberries, a great soil signature, and minerals/chalk on the long and gorgeously balanced finish. Very delicious, love L-B sparklers.

This rosé is very big candidate for my wine of the year. In five words - great Burgundy meets great Champagne. With enormous depth and structure, this rosé is in fascinating balance, the concentration at the midpalate is absolutely precise. Clean, long and beautifully fresh. We paired it with pasta in brown cream sauce with white truffles and it worked perfectly.

The raspberry cordial colour is unusual. It's very pinot on the palate. Dry and lean with reasonable length. Agree with some comments that it's a burgundy with bubbles. Do I like it? Not sure but I don't dislike it.....it's just different. It will probably be a more complete experience with matched food.

A bottle deg. around 2010. Pink in color. Nose shows raspberries, caramel and bread notes. This is more a still Pinot than a Champagne. Extremely complex and multilayered. A wine that screams for food (we had it with veal chops). I understand some low ratings as this is a vine that does not fit the normal Rose Champagne standard. Very vinous...amazing stuff!!!

The color of sockeye salmon in the glass with lots of medium/tiny bubbles and a great mousse, nose of raspberry, fragrant rose petals, and honeydew melon, more of the same on the palate, touch of acid holds the complex toasty taste together on the mid palate, and long finish. Great with chevre goat cheese on a hot summer day in the San Francisco Bay Area.

This was really fantastic bubbly. A dark, almost crimson color with a nose of strawberry, watermelon, and hints of bread. It is pure pleasure to drink with a crisp and delightful mouthfeel with plenty of red berry fruit. Pairs fantastic with a summer cheese/fruit plate for an appetizer. Really quite delicious and for the price a bargain in Champagne.

In my efforts to try many different Champagne styles and houses this year, I have stumbled upon this "rose". From the label, it appears this is 2010 base wine, disgorged Jan 2013. It is a deep salmon color at the core, with tons of tiny bubbles and a fine mousse that keeps on keeping on. The developing nose offers up med+ intensity aromas of strawberry, cherry, tangerine rind, loads of savory soil/terroir, and chalk. When I hear reviewers speak of a "vinous" Champagne, I wasn't sure what they meant until sniffing this wine. Same intensity on the palate; this sparkler is full bodied, with no apparent sweetness that I can discern, med in alcohol. The flavors of this wine are med/med+ intensity blood orange, strawberry compote, sticks and stones, and bready yeast, with a high acid cut to this wine that is somehow balanced out (in the absence of sweetness), by some underlying richness coming from either the time on the dead lees, or perhaps the method of vinification. The finish is med+ and repeats the citrus and strawberry PN notes, as well as the undeniable streak of minerality and soil. It is spell binding, and addictive, as I keep coming back for glass after glass through the evening, while I am supposed to be working. I really love this wine, and for the price, I think it is stunning, complex, layered with flavors, and well balanced...but really for lovers of Extra Brut or non-dosage Champagnes. This wine is probably just entering into it's drinking window now, and will continue to drink well through 2022 or so. Brilliant, I will search this wine out.

We drank over the course of a two hour meal at Proof on Main, Louisville, KY in the 21C Hotel. This is a great bottle of wine to match with an assorted tasting menu or a multi-course meal that includes both seafood and steak. It is a really nice, balanced wine with plenty of strawberry and raspberry fruit, and it held up nicely against every dish served.

My new favorite champagne- the color is fantastic, a deep, inviting rose which almost speaks of the strawberries to come. Doughy, yeasty nose, with peach and honey. The strawberries are definitely there and maybe some melon. A really great glass of champagne. Highly recommended.

Champagne Rosé Tasting: Tasted blind next to the Marie Noelle Ledru and the Oliver Horiot Saignee Roses. The color of the Larmandier Bernier always stands out as it is the deepest (100% Pinot Noir), even in the middle of other Saignee Roses. The wine showed extremely young and did not give away any flavors... likely because it was a just degorged bottle (2012) and was served too cold for a Larmandie Bernier Rose. In my previous note of this wine I suggested that this wine should be served at around 16 degrees celsius and out of large glasses. I still insist on this. This is a wine that requires patience, but the ones patient enough will have a beautiful and quite unique Rose in the glass. Not a crowd-pleaser but a wine with a potential of 93 to 94 points in a few years...
How to rate this wine? It is a great Pinot with bubbles. Very deep, almost "kitsch" rose in color. Nose of strawberries, ligth smoke and melon. The wine is long and has such a smooth structure. Just superbly balanced. It is not your typical aperitf rose, it is much more a wine that needs food to go along. I liked it best out of the large glassess where it fully showed the aromas. I can understand that this is a Rose that can polarize, but at least I loved it!

From memory, note not taken when bottle was drunk. The palate of this champagne had flavors of cranberry and pomegranate. I have not encountered champagne with such bitter red fruit notes before. The light tannins that had been present when first disgorged a few years back have been fully integrated. This is a good quality champagne but it is not my preferred style. I can see it being a bit polarizing for those who drink it.

Sushi with friends (Kai Zan, Chicago IL): Nose: Very pretty and aromatic nose with tones of roses, red berries, various citrus notes, white fruits, and some minerals too.
Taste: Medium bodied with pronounced medium/high acidity. Even with the acidity being higher, there are lovely tones of red berries, roses, citrus tones, and minerals.
Overall: This was a real fun rose. There is a real freshness on both the nose and palate that creates a real attraction to the wine.

I usually love LB champagne, but I have had this multiple times and for a champagne this doesn't do it for me. It much closer to a full bodied rose due to the Saignee method and the cut and acidity don't do it for me. Not a good qpr.

100% Pinot Noir. More of a rose wine than a champagne, zero dosage we believe, with a round silky palate and light on acidity. Full on the red berries on the nose. Forward and enjoyable but not really memorable. And the colour looks a touch suspicious. Interesting. 90

This wine makes no compromises. It is quite different from your prototype rosé as it is very lean, concentrated and vibrant. It's very focused brimming with red fruit and some bitterness resembling tonic water. It's low dosage (3 grams I believe) - a bit higher amount would probably make it a bit more approachable right now but that would probably be considered as a compromise... A bit challenging right now but a good wine crying for food.
Dark ruby red colour for a rosé, copper tones only at the rim. The nose is quite open, young and crispy fresh. Red berries (think cranberry, lingonberry). Mid-weight palate is very dry, tight and focused. The red berries from the nose can be found here, too. Tonic-like bitterness in the aftertaste.

Deep deep raspberry in colour - pretty much fully red. Bright and quite vibrant nose of raspberry and redcurrant with mineral notes. Good fizz and creany mousse on the attack, quite full bodied and red fruited, then a more obvious CO2 character on the mid-palate and falls away quite quickly on the finish. Shows better with some air (esp next day) and in a larger glass. Really quite decent if treated as a wine that just happens to be fizzy. Very similar to previous bottle from same batch 30 months ago. Can't quite make up my mind. ***1/2 for interest rather than pleasure.

Garnet colored- very dark- other drinkers were asking whether it was a lambrusco. Very vinous, this tasted like a carbonated pinot noir rather than typical sparkling wine. This has a fairly brief lasting mousse, and an equally brief finish on the palate. More of a novelty than something I'd regularly drink.

Drank New Year's Eve before dinner at Nectar. Deep red tint. Effervescence almost over the top. Reticent nose. Some cherry and yeast. Pleasant enough palate, but missing the creamy texture and depth of flavor I prefer in rosé Champagne. OK length. Crisp acidity. Liked it, but didn't love it.

Such a strong color. A reductive which clears a bit. Maybe too recent degorgement? Vinous style full of berries with a lovely sweetness in the fruit (not added in the dosage). Bright acidity with a medium length and medium light body which to me contradicts the full color. Youthful and pure wine but not made for keeping. I liked this very much but this isn't a wine to contemplate with. Party wine, more about the imminent joy than complexity of hidden layers. Yet excellent.

I have to agree with many that this champagne is like no other. Very, very dry, with no sweetness at all. Lots of strawberry, with some loamy, earthy notes. Pretty much tastes like very cool climate pinot with an infusion of bubbles, yet more complex than that indicates. There is underlying structure that will make this interesting to follow, but for now it holds more of an interesting factor than a taste good factor.

I sincerely struggle with how to rate this wine... I wanted it so badly to live up to the grandeur of the occasion on which it was drank... but alas, it was a disappointment. In assigning a rating, I attempt to adequately parse the wine and the occasion - with a 100 for the occasion and an 85 for the champagne I arrive at a (weighted) average of 91.
To start, the bottle - oh the bottle - so elegant and rarefied yet disarmingly simple. Was it to be a hint of things to come or a douse of French chicanery? I dare say that my fiancee summed this bottle up with the statement, "it tastes like $80 seltzer with a splash of cranberry!"... oh how I chuckle at what a young palette can come up with at times! To my, I'd like to think, slightly more mature palette I drew a (slight) hint of mousse, maybe a waft of perfume, and legs for miles.... but at the end of the bottle these were but apparitions and I was left with an extremely fizzy and nearly dull middle of the road champagne. Past its prime or yet to come... I do not know, but my heart tells me that this champagne must have offered more at some time. Unfortunately, I do not think I will be getting back on this merry-go-round to find out. If any fellow CellarTracker-istas can offer some insight or encouragement on why this bottle deserves a second, I pray more dignified, chance please let me know.

this bottle, just disgorged last year, I believe, came very highly recommended from someone whose palate I respect. I'll have to guess this bottle was flawed - not corked, not oxidised, not any discernable flaw- but there was no there there. nice bubbles, but not much on the nose and absent flavors on the palate. we'll see if this improves tomorrow, but for now an absolute waste of $75.

100% Pinot Noir vinified on its skin. Anyone looking for a traditional Sparkling Rose would be disappointed as this requires a different reference point. Needs food (and I mean meat rather than a piece of fish!) rather than consumed as a cocktail. At the end of the day you might think it tastes like strawberry cough medicine but certainly great fun to try. But 96 points from Mr Gallioni? hmmm....I'm saving a few bottle to see how this changes over time....

Very deep red for a rosé, raspberry coloured verging on properly red. Lovely nose of raspberry and redcurrant with nicely mineral notes. Full and ripe on the attack - seems slightly incongruous for a wine this red to be fizzzy. Mineral mid-palate then falls away quite suddenly to leave a very CO2 dominated and quite short finish. Feels as if there's a gap at the end that needs to be filled with some bottle-ageing. Interesting and certainly different to any rosé I've tried previously. Certainly a food wine. Can't quite make up my mind, but it's either ** or ***(*). This bottle purchased in 2009, so probably needs a few years to develop.

Wow! Did not know what to expect from this unusual saignee method wine, since its colour is nothing like your regular rose champagne. It's bright and either pale purple or red orange juice colour. It does not even smell like champagne - no autolytic character (later I read on the webpage, it spends only 3 to 6 months on the lees before disgorgement). Light aromas of red fruit - raspberry & strawberries with a very light touch of bread in the background. Palate is the most unusual - it has lots of red fruit flavours combined with a light touch of spice, medium length again dominated with some serious Latvian :-) strawberries. Acidity is there and a very delicate mousse is there. Well, some serious structure is there too. Absolutely amazing ... but don't even think of presenting this to a wine novice, they will think it's a red wine gone mad. Cheers!

It's unusual but so good.
It can stand vigorously vs spicy dishes ,tuna, (+ see food pairing below)
One can find it expensive, but the value is there

Oddly, when I had the 2013 Maturation a few months back, now that wine was engaging and I really enjoyed it. I think my chase now is to get another bottle, but wait for the 2018 base to show up on the shelf and then try it.

There’s not much point in ageing this; it can be drunk immediately.

wonderful color, pink / orange salmon which seduces.
Pale Salmon
Nose is so unique...cranberry, strawberry, smoke, herbs, minerals and subtle floral notes...this has a wild edge that I just love.
The palate has a really creamy texture and opens with strawberry cream candy, mint, wild herbs, pain grille, red flowers and spice.
Finish is long....this is fantastic....stunning actually.

Ripe strawberry, medium full bodied, herbal, though it lacks the elegance and finesse of say Laurent Perrier or Vilmart Rubis, Despite that, it is pretty darn tasty.

Disgorged 4/2017, vintage 2014. Retasted after 3 months. The wine is definitely more focused and tighter. Great energy, full palate, sorbet-like fresh nose. Rasberry, strawberry, pears, apples, changing, mineral, airy. This is an amazing vintage champagne rosé from certified biodynamic producer, from old vineyards. Rosé that can age.

This was a seamless package (perhaps too seamless), with some really compelling stone fruit flavours. There's a lovely mineral cut here that gives this a much-needed dose of freshness.

With enormous depth and structure, this rosé is in fascinating balance, the concentration at the midpalate is absolutely precise. Clean, long and beautifully fresh.

Peculiar bubbly. Deep red color. Ripe berries on the nose lead you to think it might not be totally dry tasting. however, it is. The flavours don't keep pace with the nose. Interesting to say the least.

Maverick Wine Co.'s Grand Tour 2011 (OneSixtyBlue, Chicago IL): nose: nice and balanced nose of red cherries, berries, citrus tones, white fruits, and minerals
taste: well balanced medium/full feel with medium acidity. Good, but straightforward tones of red cherries, minerals, and berry tones
overall: a very good rose, but there is something just missing from this. Well balanced but fairly straightforward and not too complex

A deeper shade of pink than most fizzy roses. Very exuberant mousse. Rich earthy cranberry/strawberry flavors as others have noted. Overall though, lacking something, and a bit simple. Not worth $70.

Meh. What a disappointment. Limpid and dull. No depth. All the effort seems spent in the striking bottle packaging. Spend your money elsewhere. (it was greatly improved with a splash of St. Germain....)

Muggers, AMW, Sven, Stian, Mrs Mo, with Roast goose. Decanted, rested, served in goblets: Ah yes! So much sweet ripe strawberry fruit in this Champagne. Works so much better as a frizzante light red wine. Very expressive, clean, balanced. This IS the way to drink this wine. As an apritif, just TOO MUCH going on.

100% pinot noir from Vertus. I have to say I was a bit disappointed with this wine. There is plenty of cranberry/strawberry fun but there wasn’t much depth or complexity. Fairly soft and simple and not worth the tariff.

Eh. A very frothy mousse with aromas of yeast and doughy notes leading into flavours of red fruits and biscuit on the palate, but it feels pretty soft, flabby and dull with not much acidity or back end presence.

More red than pink champagne, I found it a bit odd. Quite fruit-driven yet not sweet, but on the other it lacks the minerality and finesse I'd expect. Quite a simple, enjoyable wine, but not profound.

On the nose, has a bit of earthy dirt - almost like a Burgundy. Palate has slight medicinal cherry flavors, with a fair bit of intensity for a rose. Perfectly refreshing, very good rosé sparkler. Love the nose. 90-91

this bottle, just disgorged last year, I believe, came very highly recommended from someone whose palate I respect.

With Jen. Lots of deep red color and a different characteristic than other champagnes. A bit heavy at first, got better with a few hours open (more acidic on the finish and lighter). Drinking great by the ending. Very good with stuffing, and ok with roast chicken.

I liked this very much! candied red berries or caramel. very unique champagne. not quite acidic which brought the caramel berry flavor up nicely and the sweetness produced made me think this could have a dosage more than it really has. Cheers!

No dosage. Very deep colour - clairet rather than pink; acidic, obviously bone-dry, light aromas of strawberry and peach (some kernels too), chalk; an austere, difficult wine. Inspires respect rather than love.
