Thursday, September 7, 2017 - With this vintage, Frog's Leap remains true to its style. For many years, their Sauvignon Blanc has been sourced entirely from dry-farmed, organically grown vineyards within the Rutherford appellation. Comprised of 100% Sauvignon Blanc fermented and aged in stainless steel, these wines seek to strike a nice fruit/herbal balance, supported by fresh acidity and unassuming levels of alcohol. This is all in place here. Pale yellow and vibrant, the 2016 iteration offers citrus, stone fruit, mineral and floral elements, complimented with accents of chervil and chives. Light bodied and seamlessly alcoholic (12.8%), it is impressively solid on the mid-palate. Going on to finish with verve and medium length, this style beautifully highlights the positive qualities of the grape as grown in California. Drink now-2019.
