Saturday, November 24, 2018 - Rhone Reds (Vintage Wines Ltd., San Diego, CA): 100% Syrah from vines 25-60 years old grown in glacial alluvium soil composed of rolled pebbles; "All parcels are separately matured & aged (oak barrels or concrete vats) for 15 days, ageing in half-muids or oak barrels for about 15 mos. This cuvee is made with 20% of whole crop."

N: RIPE berries, poss with notes of raisins? Smoke & bacon fat with swirling

P: LM body; NICE frt met by astringent pucker which loses some of its snap as it morphs into a LONG, very, VERY slightly bitterish finish with a tangy/swtness to the dusty tannins. NEEDS through '19, poss '20, then approaching its 10th? NICELY done! My EXC-, & one can argue more for QPR. 92 pts Vinous, 4*/5 drinkrhone.com [vat/cask sample], & 16.5/20 Jancis Robinson.
