Community Tasting Note

Likes this wine:

Saturday, May 11, 2019 - French Wine Tasting (San Diego Wine Co.): 50% C.S., 35% Merlot, 10% P.V., & 5% C.F. from 30 yr old vines planted in mostly gravelly soils; Typically, vinified (along with malo) in traditional concrete vats; Aged for 12 mos in FR oak barrels (1/3 new, 1/3 1 yr old, & 1/3 2 yrs old).

N: BRIGHT cherries with undertones of earth?

P: LM body; NICE, almost swtish frt met by astringent PUCKER which only somewhat resolves by the LONG, balanced, POSS very, VERY slightly puckerish finish with hints of swtness to the DUSTY tannins. NEEDS through '21, then drinking for 4 yrs more? 13.5% ABV; My EXC-, with certainly potential for more down the line. 93 pts Suckling, 92 Jeff Leve, 91 Decanter (Anson), 90 WA, 89+ Vinous (Galloni), & 16+/20 ("Good Value") Jancis Robinson! [This vendor's $19.99 puts it @ the bottom of the TOP 1/3 of wine-searcher's postings.]
