" disappointing wine. Could not find traditional southern Rhone characteristics in this wine -- tasted none of the hot earth, olives, raspberry, lavender. More of a slick, generic, polished Italian merlot. The fruit tasted under-ripe, thin, and covered up by slightly astringent wood tannins. Didn't feel like more years of cellaring would magically endow this wine with what is lacking now"-- a sense of place.

This is by far the worst Pegau I've had..and this based on 2 different bottles. Not sure what they're doing over at Pegau, but this is nothing like
2001, 2007 or 2009

1/15/2020 9:08:00 PM - Man...I'm going to have to check in on one of my '15's and report back because that was not at all my experience when I tried it on release. FWIW, the 2016 is a banger.

Is there some kind of bottle damage that can kill all the fruit? Heat, cold, something else? It smelled like a Pegau but had almost no flavor.

Did you buy chance buy yours from a US based retailer that starts with an 'S'?

7/25/2020 9:26:00 AM - None of my 2015’s are anything like this description.

7/25/2020 9:59:00 AM - Owl, I get that. Most descriptions here sound like a really good Pegau. However, the bottle I had was exactly what CB described, and as I point out, there are now four descriptions describing it as thin and having little flavor. I'm wondering if some set of bottles was damaged somehow.
