Tuesday, March 24, 2020 - I've heard some suggest that this wasn't a strong vintage for this wine, but based on this bottle I'd definitely disagree. While still exceptionally young, this was really showing its Mourvedre at this point, and to me that's a very good thing. Vibrant fruit upfront, with significant density and depth in the mid-palate. Finishes fairly long with tannic bite. Over a few hours you can sense more from the grenache, but luckily (for my tastes anyway) this really feels driven by the Mourvedre right now. Meaty with some astringency and slight camphor notes. I really liked it. If there's a concern, it seems to teeter on the edge a bit - it could get softer and less defined, become a bit anonymous; or the parts could develop even more nicely and evolve into something even better. Right now, for a young wine, this is very good stuff, and I'm thinking I should buy more.
