Saturday, May 30, 2020 - Classic Rutherford Napa California Cab. Densely dark Blackberry color with sweet black and blue fruit and fresh flowers and vanilla in the aroma upon opening. A Riedel Bordeaux glass is a necessity to show off this hedonistic beauty. Luscious, viscous, and silky mouthfeel, with a hint of Bordeaux flavor accoutrements including a sophisticated hint of friendly Brett. The flavors blossom and explode mid palate with lovely intense without being jammy (Caymus) fruit, flowing into the long and sensuous finish. Can’t believe I got four of these at a close out price of $34.00 (750 mL). Rib-eye and a wonderful salad of rice, black beans, scallions, zucchini and dill pickle with oil and rice wine vinegar pair beautifully with this straight shooter gem. And the winemaker, John Daniel Jr., exacts his magic with this perfectly balanced, and understated elegant gift of grape with only 14.2% alcohol.
