Popped and poured; no formal notes. I would still categorize the 2013 as developing and in a really good place right now. Secondary characteristics are just beginning to show themselves and the fruit and structure are in good balance. Pretty much a fastball right down the middle of the plate as far as Napa Cabernet from Rutherford goes, and that’s a compliment. Drink now through 2038.

Still somewhat guarded after 3 hour decant off of abundant sediment. Black cherry, mocha, dusty, vanilla and moist saddle leather on the nose.
Medium bodied in the mouth. Dry fruit driven palate. Cocoa, mint, attic, granite, juicy, and mouth coating fine grained tannins are the supporting players.
Cerebral. Drinking well at age ten. 92-93.
No rush.

It was beautiful around the edges. I will probably wait before the next bottle. Opened for about 2 hours before drinking. I think this wine ages well and the sweet spot is just a little over 10 years old, but probably not past 15.

Nose is dominated by cherry with faint hint of oak, but palate is much more balanced. Cherry, vanilla, licorice, oak, raspberry. Soft mouthfeel, not quite mouthcoating but very supple. A well rounded, well integrated cabernet that is drinking well now. Decanted for about 30 minutes.

Decanted for two hours and consumed over the following two. Cabs can so often be a matter of personal taste and this vino struck a chord with my wife and me. Rich, thick and robust. Packed with fruit, oak and acidity without being overwhelming, sweet or a fruit bomb. Approaching balance and resolution with many years of life ahead. Beautiful!

Out of 375 again. Similar notes to my last bottle, put perhaps a little less expressive. To be fair, this was the backup to an oxidized Montelena, so it only got about 15 minutes of air.

Very dark red/purple color. PNP, drank a couple glasses over 3 hours. The offers pure notes of black currants with a blend of red and black berries, dried forest floor and wood spices. The palate is full bodied, tangy dark fruits, black currant, boysenberry, nice spices, white pepper, with restrained oak framing on a satiny texture. In the early drinking window and I would expect a little upside yet.

This wine is settling down and can be enjoyed now or laid down for several more years IMHO. Good solid acidity and tannins are softening and in balance with the fruit. Lovely dusty nose and enjoyable with or without food. I'm happy to have a few more of these in the cellar.

Excellent Cali Cab for the money. No decant. Expressive nose of cherries, currants, spices, violets, leather, vanilla. Palate is well balanced, full of black and blue fruit and with sweet, well integrated tannins. Finish is fairly long. May get better with age but ready to drink now

We drank a 1999 Inglenook Rubicon upon my retirement (02-2009) and that is the measure against which I compare all Cabernets from anywhere. So...when Costco carried this several years ago, I bit. As others have noted, this is approachable and perhaps smooth and elegant, medium-bodied, but the end of the sip and the finish last FOREVER! Dusty cellar tastes (almost Rioja-like), leather, cherry, cigar box and strong black licorice. I posted a photo of the sediment it threw. I've never had a wine that throws sediment like that that isn't a superior wine and this is no exception. Outstanding. Purchased a 2018 at Costco this week and fate be willing, 2025-2026 for THAT. THIS is a drink now...we did breathe it all afternoon and it paired well with grilled rack of lamb with mint pesto sauce, linguine and asparagus. Worth the $50+. It is smooth enough, I'd be afraid it might degrade beyond 2022, but I'm no expert.

A tarot reading of sorts. Color and Clarity - The King of Cups, beautiful in the glass - 5. Nose - The Hermit, refusing to come out - 11. Palate - The Emperor, Dominant tannins providing protection and stability - 17. Overall experience - The High Priestess, yet to reveal her secrets - 7.
This is a wine shrouded in mystery and will require 3-4 years to emerge from behind a wall of tannins. I suspect that a lovely and elegant wine is in here, but at age 7 it's not even close to knowing it's own fortune. 88-92.
Other comments are spot on. It’s a nice and enjoyable wine that's easy to drink on its own or with food; on the dry side, with muted fruit. A cross between respectable and a memorable; nothing screams out that you need to get more of this, but I wouldn’t hesitate for a moment if someone popped a second bottle.

There are a lot of things to like here. Our overall impression of this wine is that it is a much leaner style of Napa cabernet - it does not hit you with a sense of powerful fruit. The flavors are all fo those that have been mentioned in other CT notes. @MIKE410 - totally understand the "not as sweet" comment; @LVEPICURE - totally understand the notion of structure in this wine, it does present as very well built, we did not get a sense of "lush;" @JOSCH48 - "without being jammy (Caymus)" Oh so true! and at $34 a bottle, you won! @JDAVIS243 - "there’s a lot of finesse here, but just a bit too restrained for my taste." That was our sense as well.
Having said all that, I suspect it will continue to develop and improve. But I only had the one bottle, so...

Quite nice! Upon opening nose of violet, tobacco, underbrush, mocha, slight vanilla, camphor. On the palate medium to full bodied, classic Rutherford dusty tannins that slightly hide the rich fruit. Good acid. A delightful glass. Opened one hour nose of dark coffee, tobacco, dry dirt, plum, dark cassis. Palate much the same as before but the fruit now mingles with the tannins and is enchanting. A classic example of old school Napa Cabernet. Firm, lush, structured, and fruity. Another 2-3 years would allow to fully develop.

Classic Rutherford Napa California Cab. Densely dark Blackberry color with sweet black and blue fruit and fresh flowers and vanilla in the aroma upon opening. A Riedel Bordeaux glass is a necessity to show off this hedonistic beauty. Luscious, viscous, and silky mouthfeel, with a hint of Bordeaux flavor accoutrements including a sophisticated hint of friendly Brett. The flavors blossom and explode mid palate with lovely intense without being jammy (Caymus) fruit, flowing into the long and sensuous finish. Can’t believe I got four of these at a close out price of $34.00 (750 mL). Rib-eye and a wonderful salad of rice, black beans, scallions, zucchini and dill pickle with oil and rice wine vinegar pair beautifully with this straight shooter gem. And the winemaker, John Daniel Jr., exacts his magic with this perfectly balanced, and understated elegant gift of grape with only 14.2% alcohol.

PNP needed several hours to open up. Dark ruby. Nose of blackberry and toasted oak. More red fruit on the palate, with some leather. Medium body, tannins softening and good acidity. More of a classic style, the parts are there but disjointed. Drink with decant or hold.

My impressions of this inglenook having tasted it on two occasions left me wanting a bit more. Very well made and enjoyable - velvety smooth tannin, red fruit, black currant and pencil lead with a bit of dust, there’s a lot of finesse here, but just a bit too restrained for my taste.

Deep ruby, narrowly-spaced slightly tainted tears @14.2% abv. Medium aromas of dark fruit, toasted oak and autnumn leaves. Dry, medium(-)-medium acidity, medium-medium(+) ripe tannin, medium(+) alcohol and full body. Palate of blackberry, red cherry, cocoa, white pepper, licorice notes. Smooth texture, a bit of a sense of weakness mid-palate ("the mid-palate hole"). Very good length with powerful dry finish rounded off by fruit acidity.

Young tight Dry big and dark with a nose of currant, leather, Plum, wood, blackberry, mineral and dark chocolate. Necessary to decant for full enjoyment as this wine takes its time opening up. On the palate this wine packs the tannins and has a velvety mouthfeel with similar notes of plum, currant, blackberry, wood, leather, dry dark chocolate, nutmeg and tobacco. The finish is where this wine however truly shines and it is very enjoyable as it opens up and becomes brighter and more ripe tasting here was found wood, dark chocolate, nutmeg, blackberry, blueberry, candied cherry and leather. Along with a flutter of cream. This finish lasts well over a minute. Wonderful big and sturdy enough for many more years of aging and will improve over the next 5-7 years and last. Hard to get a Napa Cabernet of this quality under $100 these days. Well done!!!

On the nose, black cherries, blackberries, raspberries and baking spices.
The palate expresses black cherries, blackberries, raspberries along with notes of tobacco and spices and a touch of dark chocolate. This wine has a medium+ body, firm and silky tannins and a fresh long finish.
The wine looks garnet colored. The legs are medium. There is no sediment in the bottle. It smells like blackberry, strawberry and raspberry. It tastes like blackberry, blueberry and raspberry. The body is medium/full. The wine has silky texture. The wine finishes long. The wine has medium acidity.

Enjoyed the last 2 nights, nose of black berry, black currants, and boysenberry, same on the palate, big body, tasty, score probably better in 2 years as it was much nicer the second night, mouth filling fruit, rich fruit, the floral nose was the best feature of this Cabernet Sauvignon, and a long finish. Cellar time of a year has been rewarded with this Cabernet but patience is required for peak enjoyment. Uploaded picture of bottle and cork.
Very nice intense bouquet of blackberries and blueberries. More effusive than the usual Napa Cab at this price range with solid mid palate and medium finish. This could be a good value for an aromatic Cab.

Oh, to know when to open a wine or to continue to let it rest. This bottle was allowed to slow ox for an hour before being poured. Looking back, should have been decanted for several hours before drinking. Wonderful, classic nose of dark fruits, cassis, vanilla and fig. Restrained flavors of cherry, plum, chocolate, cedar, coffee, dark pepper and cocoa. Light, sublime mouthfeel as none of the elements had come together, leaving the impression that the wine was watery, unresolved and didn't have an idea what it wanted to be. The last few sips were much more cabernet-like, leading us to believe we didn't give the wine a fair chance by consuming so quickly. I'll hold off rating this wine while recommending that additional bottles lay down for several more years. There must be potential here when rated 93 points by JS and 95 points by AG.
Opened last night, and then drunk the next day with Bruce, Diane and Matt, my neighbor, at home late this afternoon and early evening. My note reflects what I remember most from it the day after drinking. I liked this, but it was actually the weak sister during this tasting. All the elements present for a decent Napa cabernet, but did not seem harmonious and really had no distinct personality. A disappointment in that way. 4-11-15-8: 88/100.

The 2013 is excellent vintage! On initial opening I was hit with a strong smell of ripe blackberry. Bottle was poured into a decanter and given a 2 hour decant. With the first glass the smell of berry had backed off somewhat, now mixed with a little funk. First sip gave me some of the ripe blackberry, a little licorice, and chalk. Tannins, while not strong, were fairly noticeable. Smooth mouthfeel and nice long finish. Impressive wine!

Opened for a Christmas rib roast dinner and wine perfectly balanced for such a rich cut of meat.
Taken on its own this is a big, rich California cab with ripe fruits and full of cassis on the nose and has just a little earthy dust aroma that I was looking for in a Rutherford cab.
On the palate this wine while acidic and tannic is balanced but the tannins are on the front of the tongue. There isn't much fruit on the palate but this wine is made for a rich meal and is not terribly appealing on its own at this point.

Dark fruit with mainly currant and blackberries but also graphite and some oak notes. The acidity is rather soft but fresh and enough to balance the wine ok. There is a sandy tannic structure and herbal notes on the palate. This is a rather dense and heavy Cabernet Sauvignon but still not overpowered.

Nose of black berry, black currants, and red cherry, same on the palate, big body, tasty, mouth filling fruit, rich fruit, easy Cabernet Sauvignon to enjoy from a great Napa Vintage, paired with Extra Sharp Cheddar, went well together, and a long finish. Photo uploaded.

PNP needed several hours to open up. Dark ruby. Nose of blackberry and toasted oak. More red fruit on the palate, with some leather. Medium body, tannins softening and good acidity. More of a classic style, the parts are there but disjointed. Drink with decant or hold.

Nose of black berry, black currants, and red cherry, same on the palate, big body, tasty, mouth filling fruit, rich fruit, for a 2013 the tannins are almost completely gone, time to enjoy your cellar efforts is now, easy to enjoy with cheese, and a long finish.

deep red color, raspberry, cherry and licorice on the nose, full, with flavors of dried cherry, herbal tea, blackberry and mineral, balanced, elegance emerges with air, dusty tannin, smooth finish, drinks well now, cellar potential for another decade

Opened to share with Alex, poured into a decanter and back to bottle twice to improve enjoyment of this young wine, nose of black berry, black currants, and baker's chocolate, same on the palate, big body, tasty, mouth filling fruit, rich fruit, the baker's chocolate turned to mocha on the palate over the next ninety minutes, and a long finish.

The nose on this wine is fantastic. Smooth and juicy...however that smells. This wine is rich and creamy with ripe berries and vanilla. I say this is drinking very well no after an hour decanted but could easily cellar for another 2-5 years.

Pnp with dinner at Joseph’s wine bar in Delray Beach. Deep opaque purple with a magenta rim. Big nose of cedar, oak, blackberries, dark plum and nail polish. Taste is similar, well balanced Bordeaux style. Nice prominent chalky tannins. Medium acidity. Medium plus body. Nice. About 91-92.

Tasted watered down and high-yield over several hours of decanting. Some interesting Cab notes, but weak mid-palate and short finish. Underwhelming relative to some of the Inglenook's I tasted at the winery last summer.

IMW - Cab / Cab Franc Walk-Around Tasting 2018 (mostly 2014 vintage) (Hyatt, San Francisco): A more restrained style, compared to other Napa wines. Blackcurrant. Herbs. Strong structure. Dusty earth. Looks like we tasted the same vintage last year - I like it better this year.

Now dropping the cask designation. The barrels that don't make it into the Rubicon. I don't think the coravin is doing it any favors but its certainly pretty killer Rutherford Cab.

Institute of Masters of Wine - 2013 Cabernet Walk-Around Tasting (Hyatt, San Francisco): Nice savory nose but a bit soft on the palate. More restrained ripeness compared to other wines here, which I tend to appreciate, but the complexity isn’t really there. Much lower flavor concentration mid-palate than the Spottswoode Lyndenhurst.
