Thursday, July 2, 2020 - What a nice surprise from this difficult vintage and kind of under-the-radar producer. It has aged perfectly and shows a really pretty deep golden, almost orange color. Explosive but mature aromatics of caramel, brown sugar, honey, pineapple, ripe pear, smoke, minerality, some baking spices, also some citrusy notes too. It‘s medium-full bodied, with a creamy mouthfeel, medium+ acidity and medium+ sweetness that has integrated nicely. Medium-long finish. A rich, creamy and lush Spätlese that paired beautifully with Char Siu pork ribs and a salad of cucumber and watermelon.
