93 Points

Saturday, August 8, 2020 - Impromptu (socially distanced) wine on our porch with some friends...great evening. First red of the evening, slow oxed for about an hour before serving

Bright garnet color. Expressive nose showing cherry, plums, spice. Palate of red cherry, pomegranate, smoke, pepper. Medium weight, long finish.

Very early in its evolution, this should continue to improve and probably drink well for another 15 years (best guess). The air time helped, would give this 2 hours decant if possible. Has upside from here, 93+ in time. Reliably great wine from Ridge...

8/10/2020 5:40:00 PM - srh - thanks for your comment. Sounds like you know the wines from Ridge well...:) Ridge Zins are fantastic, and they can age way longer than most think. I was lucky enough to buy 2 magnums of the 87 Lytton Springs Zin from the tasting room circa 2010. Drank the last one in 2016 and it was still great...Cheers
