Sunday, November 22, 2020 - Yes, very port-like.
Can you imagine what it would have been like if they didn't add 4.3% water?
For such a hot, drought filled year, to let this go to the end of September for harvest is a treat, but alas, this treat was treated to too much new oak. It's pretty distasteful, but quality.

If you like big vanilla in your wine then this is the sucka fo you!

Well, waddaya know, this is growing on me. It's kinda like a candy. It's interesting, sweet, but I still can't stand the nose with all that vanilla. It's a quality chocolate port. Dense, rich, tastes authentic, perfect tannins, touches of spice, texture of big unctuous vanilla, chocolate blackberry ripe tar. The oak must have had a good char on it to give this smoke and black.
It actually works.
As it opens it becomes more enjoyable, or is that the 15%ABV talking?

Purchased directly from the winery, club purchase upon release.
Ridge in Santa Cruz Mountains up Monte Bello Road is just a precious trip, one that will indelibly mark your life with a fantastic experience of views of all of Silicone Valley, SF, Oakland, Mt. Diablo and if you go to the other side of the tasting building to look west you will see the vineyards of Rhys Skyline Vineyard. Rhys is an absolute must try for Burgundy lovers, but I prefer their small production of Syrah.

This bottle was temperature controlled stored since purchase, moved around from locker to fridge twice, then finally 3 weeks ago made the trip to my home from the art studio.
The bottle had caked stains on the inside from the sediment. Almost the whole bottle had been covered with that film rendering it with the appearance of cloudiness although it had fully settled. The sediment smoke did not show until about a full glass was left in the bottle.

Oh, that I could go back to 2015 to experience LBC! (Life Before Covid)
