2016 E. Guigal Côtes du Rhône

90 Points

Saturday, August 28, 2021 - My second and third bottles of the 2016, and much more open and pliant than my first bottle 9 months ago. These were decanted for 30 minutes and served, were immediately enjoyable and were equally delicious on night two. Red and black fruit, good acid backbone, hints of mint, pepper and exotic spices, and firm but modest tannins. This wine has balance, generosity, and a very a nice structure. Drink to 2025. Outstanding QPR.

11/15/2021 2:08:00 PM - THANK you for your followup TN -- & for the EXTRA time you spent so thoroughly explaining how it benefited from aeration on both days! 🙂 Should you be interested, I’ve uploaded info for this vintage which you can peruse at your leisure. 😉
