94 Points

Sunday, April 24, 2022 - Not a 100 point wine but could be very very special with more time in the cellar. Pnp but consumed slowly and it’s a good thing we did. As much as I love Aubert this is a beast of a different kind from the usual: still a very new world chard but one with more steel, granite and backbone than I am used to. Almost a different Aubert style, one that traditional Burg lovers will probably react very well to.
A few good hours of air and this thing went from slightly gawky on the palate and reticent on the nose to full on gorgeously balanced mineral and honey driven bouquet + sublime baked apple /lemon meringue pie palate. A whisper of spearmint ? Adds to the intrigue. Glad I have another of these to try in about 2 years. Whole new longevity bracket for Aubert - first announced to me with the 2016 Allosaurus-like chards. Is this a trend ? If so, sign me up. Love the old tarty Odelisque Aubert chards but holy crap these are, as hard as it is to believe , even better if very different.
Score :94 and inevitably higher in a couple of years
Relative to expectations: at least ++
