  • SO'd for an hour, deep gold, creamy lemon; outstanding & got better as it warmed up & with more air/time, outstanding & likely will still improve, drink or preferably hold

  • One hour slow ox. Golden color. Tart pineapple, pear, and subtle caramel and minerality. Super smooth, dry, sultry palate. Very fine, lingering, mouth filling acidity.

Beautiful mouthfeel and long finish. Better than my last bottle almost a year ago. Great start to a terrific dinner at Fleming’s in Naples, FL. Big thank you to jsmorris707 for supplying so many nice bottles these last two days (and Mark1NPT for hosting me). Looking forward to the next gathering.

  • Brought to the table tonight by Joel with a 1 hour slow ox in bottle. Didn't realize I had this exact wine about 15 months ago with Agelvis but it is drinking essentially the same. Notes are about identical and so is the score!

This one benefitted from warming in the glass with lively acidity/energy. Loved that it has just the slightest hint of oak. This one is very precise and focused....class and elegance personified.....thanks, Joel!

  • New Years Eve, with Valerie at home. Good excuse to open this bottle, first tasting of this designate from 2018 vintage. Chilled, decanted for 60 minutes. Allowed to warm a bit in the decanter

Medium gold color. Nose showing citrus, melon, vanilla, mineral. Rich palate of candied citrus, butterscotch, ginger and honey....a lot going on here. Depth of the wine was impressive, evolving through the mid palate with nuance and secondary flavors. Full body and long finish.

Really spectacular on this evening, great at this point with probably another 10+ years ahead of it. Parker/Lisa Perotti gave this 100 points...obviously this is in the eye of the beholder/tongue of the taster...:) From this showing I can see why the rating was given, nothing lacking here - assuming one likes the style. Looking forward to seeing how this develops. Only holding back a couple points as it may get better?

Decant makes a difference with Aubert Chardonnay (in my experieince), this one worthy of having soime patience

  • very buttery, not quite my style.

  • No detailed notes taken. The density and layeredness are very impressive, and there is enough acidity to keep it fresh. But overall this is a bit too broad and heavy for my taste.

  • Fabulous. Wonderful balance of citrus, floral notes, acidity and balance. Every bit as delicious as a Colin-Morey or Lafon Montrachet.

  • Finally the 2018 Aubert chards are coming into their own. Similar notes to last time, except more balanced, deeper, and moar (in a good sense). Also needed a lot less air time to open up.
Score: 95. Relative to expectations: +++

  • Peaches, honey at the front with a fine mineral finish
Incredible now, possibly as-good in a year or two or more

  • Rich, expressive and complex Chardonnay with notes of tropical fruits, lemon curd and honey with a touch of butter on the finish. Super long finish, particularly for a chardonnay. Another Aubert winner.

  • No detailed notes, but this was beautiful, open and straddled the line between the spicy oak, ripe fruit and balancing acidity very well. Served next to the 2018 Bouchard Chevy, and this was clearly much richer, but also more interesting and complex.

  • Lemon zest, quince, stone fruit, white flowers, sea shells, powdered sugar, orange peel, long long finish with absolutely perfect balance. As usual Lauren is the best Aubert produced and stands against the best Chardonnays of the world.

  • Napa and a lone Kiwi (Casa de Sumoba): Might easily be the best Napa chard I have ever had and I had my fair share of some good ones. Followed over a couple days. Day 1 was pineapple, peaches and a bit of that smell from a popcorn machine an hour after it popped some popcorn with butter. Viscous, oily creamy...it had it all. Lots of layers to this wine. Day 2, this wine didn't miss a beat. Still going strong. I picked up some lemon pie on Day 2. Some of its buttery qualities took a back seat on day 2. Excellent wine.

  • Don't tease me like that unless you mean it (Chateau de Brion): Awesome purity of deep yellow fruits, wet stones, papaya, and pleasant bitterness on the nose. Flavors match the nose with deep yellow fruits, clean and pure river minerals, prickly and pleasantly bitter hay. This hits a special spot because a lot of other Chardonnays that try this style often have one or two notes slightly off for me, this doesn't have that. Awesome purity of fruit with a nice contrast of bitterness. It's like controlled chaos, great complexity while being able to hold itself together.

  • Once again, Aubert is the best new world chardonnay of the night, besting a Frank Family Reserve and Leeuwin Art Series. Precise mango and white peach notes are balanced with lemon rind and minerality. Wish I had a case.

  • One hour double decant. Pale golden color. Lemon curd, buttered popcorn, pineapple, and subtle coconut on the nose. Super smooth, modestly buttery palate. Vibrant, mouth filling acidity imparts terrific structure, with a long finish.

There’s still room for improvement. I’m not a white wine drinker, but this is pretty amazing. Shared with Mark1NPT and our lady friends at the start of our extended wine weekend.

  • It's a rare night when I rate a white wine higher than a red. Agelvis was kind enough to bring this one to the 1st night of the weekend event. Decanted for about 1+ hours before putting back into the bottle to take to the restaurant for dinner. Just a beautiful nose of buttered popcorn, citrus, oak, etc.....the palate recreates much of the same. Many people may underestimate the brilliance of this wine, but not me. I am very appreciative of Agelvis sharing this one with us. It paired wonderfully with the seafood at the table tonight and no matter the air, it doesn't fall apart or down in any way, with time. Borders on a 97 for me by the end of the night.......heck, I'm giving it a 97!

  • Deeply flavored stone fruits, ripe, but not over the top. Oak is apparent, but in good balance with the fruit. Impressive finish. Excellent.

  • Hundred Acre wine tasting: Rather elegant for a napa chardonnay, a bit of a burgundian style. Was a bit shy in the beginning, it needs around 5 more years I think.

  • Got this served blind. Everybody was certan this was BIG burgundy but I guessed Aubert. Amazing display

  • I agree with other comments, that this is delicious now, but probably needs another few years to really hit the perfection mark!

  • NYWE 2022: Nice sweet apple fruit with a buttery edge. Clean fresh lively with a smooth rich texture and delicious, but delicate white stone fruit flavors. Really like how this is drinking now. A bit of everything here and more to discover with each sip. Impressive.

Grew up in Napa. 2000 start Aubert and bought this property. 2005 first vintage. Named after daughter who is now at Cornell. Outside of forestville on hill. 10 miles from Pacific, old seabeds soils, gold ridge sandy loam. Sandy and blond creates reflection of sun to create a unique flavor and minerality. Small berry and big berry once taste like candy harvest, want hedonistic flavor push ripeness with age ability. Pick at night. Make 9 Chards and 3 Pinots. Press whole cluster, rapidly chill juice to 45 degrees. Gentle treatment of grapes. Like to get juice to barrel pick at midnight juice in barrel by 2 pm, dont want juice getting to much oxygen, use a lot of so2 to protect from air. Pump over once just prior to bottling. Use argon to protect during bottling. In barrel for 10 months, then stainless to clarify for 4 Months, bottle in December.

Lauren has 4 clones - Hudson, Hyde, Mt Eden, Corton Charlemagne to get Burgundian qualities.

  • Blliets Chards from around the world (Billiet's Bordelo): An initial blast of oak on the nose that blows off. Touch of flowers, honey and some green apple on the nose. This is a big chardonnay. As the night wore on, this balanced out on the sheer scale of the wine and became more integrated. Needs time, but has all the pieces to improve a bunch. Finished 4 of 6, my 4 of 6.

  • Needs time but great now with some air.

  • Not a 100 point wine but could be very very special with more time in the cellar. Pnp but consumed slowly and it’s a good thing we did. As much as I love Aubert this is a beast of a different kind from the usual: still a very new world chard but one with more steel, granite and backbone than I am used to. Almost a different Aubert style, one that traditional Burg lovers will probably react very well to.
A few good hours of air and this thing went from slightly gawky on the palate and reticent on the nose to full on gorgeously balanced mineral and honey driven bouquet + sublime baked apple /lemon meringue pie palate. A whisper of spearmint ? Adds to the intrigue. Glad I have another of these to try in about 2 years. Whole new longevity bracket for Aubert - first announced to me with the 2016 Allosaurus-like chards. Is this a trend ? If so, sign me up. Love the old tarty Odelisque Aubert chards but holy crap these are, as hard as it is to believe , even better if very different.
Score :94 and inevitably higher in a couple of years
Relative to expectations: at least ++

  • Classic Aubert. Broad expansive brush strokes on the palate but with fine pointed acid to keep it lively. Always delivers.

  • We drank this one after a family dinner because we wanted something dry but lighter yet really, really freakin' good. We weren't a bit disappointed! The color is wheat to corn. The nose had sharp citrus and honeysuckle with a hint of Graham cracker. Other hints on the nose include melon and grapefruit. The palate was like sipping a cool lemon stick with honey. It's beautifully balanced with fantastic structure and a long finish. The overall experience was magnificent. The Auberts are among my favorite California Chardonnays, and this was the best Aubert I have had. WA gave it 100 points. I think we drank it a tad young and frankly p&p, and as a result I am not ready to give it 100 points, but I'm easily at the 98+ level.

  • Young but in a nice spot especially with 2-3 hours air. Big and ripe but plenty of structure to keep it fresh/elevated. Honey, pears, lemon cookies, ginger, minerals…. Mouth coating texture with a ridiculously long lingering finish. Wish I had more patience because this will just continue to improve with cellar time.

  • Pale lemon green color with slow legs. Banana, oak and honeysuckle on the nose. Pear, melon and grapefruit on the nose. Long creamy finish.

  • Decanted for 60 minutes, kept at European cellar temperature. Nice minerality on the palate, with more white flowers and yellow plum flavors than other Aubert releases. Long finish aided by the mineral aftertaste. Lovely wine.

  • Vraiment sublime comme vin. Merci Alfredo
    EXCELLENT!

  • nose- smoky, pear
mouth - big rich chardonnay, fat in the mouth, butterscotch, not really balanced in my opinion. at this point it could uses better zip (acidity). but a classic to consume with the salt&pepper lobster.

  • A first look at the newest vintage of Aubert and its famous Lauren vineyard. I love the complexity and the aromatic precision very much. While my notes say “good freshness and minerality”, it still remains a bit too sweet, with too much oak (time will certainly help to integrate that better) and too oily – especially when compared to its Burgundy cousins. Not my favorite style. Some, only some Aubert wines hit all the right notes and can be amazing, this wine is not (not sure if age will change that).

TN: Medium+ intense nose full of very appealing pear and sea salt notes. On the palate very expressive and layered displaying very pure and fresh pear notes and apple, lots of sea salt and crushed rocks wrapped around a sweet core which kicks in mid-palate. Some herbs and flower aromas to complement the complex aromatic profile. There is a good, high freshness but with all the not-yet integrated oak and the sweet core it’s not enough to make it fresh enough.

Decanting: Not decanted, good from the go and little change over the next two hours.

  • This ripe and steely Chardonnay is a wine on its way up - this will get better with time, but it tasted fantastic, if a little unsettled, right now. Light yellow in color; medium in body; pungent aromas of quince, pear skin, creme de caramel, and freshly baked biscotti. The flavors are more subdued, with notes of lemon curd, orange peel, honeysuckle, and baked almond, with a nervy and briny finish (read: bright acidity, a little bouncy, but plenty of energy to age with confidence). Decant af least two hours. 15% alcohol.

I tasted this on the same night as a 2016 that came across as more creamy and layered (and, to be clear, more awesome). The 2018 shows the unevenness of youth, but the intensity and class here are undeniable. Give the 2018 another year or two (or, longer, if you are so inclined), and get ready for the fireworks. If you love any form of California Chardonnay, you owe it to yourself to try an Aubert Lauren. 94-95 for now, with tremendous upside in another few years.

  • Very elegant wine, medium to long finish with notes of apple, honey and just a touch of citrus. First Aubert ever and definitely one of the best Chardonnays I’ve ever had.
