93 Points

Thursday, July 9, 2020 - Nose is both black and red cherry, great purity and freshness to the red and density and power in the black. Smells elegant and beautiful but also bold in a Meo sort of way. The spice takes a few minutes to really develop but shows up just beautifully, not oaky baking spices, but black pepper, tea, bay leaf, cola, in a very Vosne - Richebourg - Beaumonts direction. The palate has loads of red and black cherry too, soft silky texturally, pure, clean, and powerful. Not particularly rustic, more fresh and pure. ‘96 acid is a touch high but there is another beauty and detail that it’s no problem. Showing really nicely, imagine this is about peak and don’t see much more upside as the fruit is technically matching the acid right now. Very proper. 92 - 93.
