91 Points

Wednesday, December 12, 2012 - Mixed Wines Mini-offline (Tilia, Mpls): Medium dark red with some translucent amber edges. Decanted for 1.5 hours and it was essential. Very metallic and minerally on opening. This emerged slowly after the decant and in the glass. The nose is very earthy, some funk and floral notes, cedar, iron, minerals, black cherry. The palate is fairly dry, tannins show some grip, but not overly intrusive, tart cherry on the palate, iron, iodine, mineral, oak, briary. Very interesting. This shut down after a few hours. When at its peak, 91pts, as it closed up a bit it was more like 90pts.
