  • Excellent cork. Medium garnet core, pale garnet rim. Some sweet red fruit on initial opening, then quite quickly more developed, earthy, liquorice. Medium/full bodied, earthy red fruit, liquorice, quite rich with vibrant acidity but tannins quite drying on the medium length finish. Just about hanging on, but time to drink up.

  • Reticent on nose and palate, some dusty fruit, note of cardboard. Low level cork taint.

  • For some reason this wine never really tripped my trigger and served to make it glaringly obvious, for me, why I love Chevillon's version of NSG a lot more. Really fun having two producers from the same region side by side. Kevin and I talked about how personal wine is and how one guy's awesome is another guys so so. For me, this wine showed a bit dull for me. I attribute to a heavier handed use of masking oak. This was more BDX like for me than Burgundian. Solid stuff but not unique IMO.

  • Mixed Wines Mini-offline (Tilia, Mpls): Medium dark red with some translucent amber edges. Decanted for 1.5 hours and it was essential. Very metallic and minerally on opening. This emerged slowly after the decant and in the glass. The nose is very earthy, some funk and floral notes, cedar, iron, minerals, black cherry. The palate is fairly dry, tannins show some grip, but not overly intrusive, tart cherry on the palate, iron, iodine, mineral, oak, briary. Very interesting. This shut down after a few hours. When at its peak, 91pts, as it closed up a bit it was more like 90pts.

  • Medium ruby core, medium pale ruby rim. Ripe red cherry fruit on nose, attractive earth and spicy edge, licorice notes but oak in no sense OTT. Bright and fresh. Medium + bodied on the palate, again bright and fresh but quite rich too, perceptible firm but fine tannins, ripe red cherry fruit, hint of damsons, licorice notes, very good length fresh finish. Excellent and should improve.

(Vougeraie Nuits St.Georges Les Damodes) The vineyard lies next to Vosne-Romanée, just above ‘Boudot’. Medium-plus cherry colour. Faint spice and cherry pie nose. Also a little spice on the palate. Good acidity and medium-plus velvety tannins. Subtle but persisten finish. Again a very refined style for NSG.
