Thursday, February 23, 2012 - To me, a fine marriage of great typicity, good terroir expression... if you believe that Montalcino has terroir - I think that the good wines are clearly traditional Brunello, but I think you pick them apart based on producer style as much as terroir, unfortunately. That said, I love honest, good Brunello and this is admirably honest and true while being forward and delicious. An 04 Costanti drunk the next evening showed more purity and more acid but not necessarily more transparency or terroir. I think that in 10 years the Costanti will be the better wine, based upon what I tasted in these two bottles and what I've tasted of aged Lisini and Costanti, but for now, I actually prefer the Lisini by a smidgeon and I don't mind that at all, it's delicious.
