90 Points

Friday, July 22, 2011 - Dark red/purple with a slightly translucent edge. Fast forming legs, 14% alc. Blend of 62% Cab Franc, 28% Syrah, 10% Merlot, aged 10 mos in oak. Smells of dark berry fruit like blackberry and also some plum scents. Has a bit of that pleasant Syrah earthiness on the nose as well...some call this green pepper, it is a nice respite from the fruit bomb culture. I also get a little licorice. Then in the mouth, a medium bodied mouthfeel with nicely integrated tannins, drinking beautifully right now. Flavors of plum, scorched earth, and a background meaty nuance. Finish last 20-30 sec. So nice for the $$. Will last for another year or two, anyway.
