Thursday, March 3, 2016 - 1996 Red Burgundy Horizontal: Wafting and expressive bouquet of soft red cherry fruit, drying rose petals, drying cherries, menthol, rustic underbrush, brambles, hay, and soil, acrylics and ceramics. Soft on the palate at first but expands / crescendos into a robust and lengthy finish. Tingling mouthfeel, animal and rustic but also elegant. Decidedly the wine of the night out of this mega 1996 horizontal. Outstanding from the rest of the pack... a pretty good pack. The Hudellot-Noellat RSV and Dujac Echezeaux came close but ultimately this was better built and had more nose and finish.
