Sunday, April 6, 2014 - Another lovely bottle, clean and much smoother than a few years ago, but still some tannin present. No real signs of high alcohol typical of the vintage, nor any real signs of brett that some other tasters note. This should continue to hold for another 3-5 years, if not longer.

I hope most tasters are aware that brett can blossom in the bottle when stored at temps above 60 degrees or so, which can explain some of the variable notes on this wine. No question that brett is in the 1998 Pegau (and historically in MANY CdP's) but at cool cellar temps is generally contained pretty well. So the really bretty bottles are partly Pegau's fault, and partly how your bottle was stored over its lifetime.
