Thursday, May 19, 2011 - Chateau Pontet Canet Vertical 1994-2004 plus 1990: Nose was initially closed but opened up to reveal cassis, rosted coffee beans, white pepper, smoke, chocolate and some medicinal aromas. Medium bodied and elegant and very flavorful. Intense tannins and flavors of cedar, black fruit and graphite make a very serious palate. Has reached drinking plateau and has one the best noses of this vertical.
