Friday, March 9, 2018 - Pleasantly surprised - was expecting a fruit bomb, but time must have mellowed this a bit. Decanted for about 1 hour prior to serving. Very funky, bretty nose - lots of barnyard and some band aid. Dark ruby red color, no sediment, quite clear. On the palate - dark cherries and raspberries, a bit of smoke and meaty gaminess, enough acid to keep it balanced. Still more of a fruit forward syrah, but enough balance for drinking enjoyment. These are definitely in the drinking window, but probably will hold for at least another 5 years.
