Monday, March 19, 2007 - Intense full-bodied red with complex, smooth, velvety components. Very dark red-garnet, not opaque. Dominantly cherries (blow off after some time) and spices on the nose. Tight, fruit-driven spicy flavors, initially packet in a very smooth and velvety mouthfeel. After a few seconds, tickling acidity, some chewy, soft tannins and the nearly 16% alc take over... Hardly any oak and no sediment to speak of. Not that happy about the numbing acetone aromas, and the slightly hot finish. It's really the initial mouthfeel and exceedingly well balanced mid-palate that will make you long for more. Highly recommended if you can get it at $40.
