2/14/2014 5:52:00 AM - I see that you drank several wines that I have sitting in my cellar...Manzoni Stefano (I also have the Roul and Big), Vigna Tecc & Billard-Gonnet Pezerolles. Have you tried the 2004 Roul or Big. Would love to know which of the three 2004 Manzoni's should be drunk now versus holding. It sounds like the Pezerolles is a winner for $50. Any more in stock at Hinton's? Thanks for all of your great tasting notes!

2/14/2014 7:31:00 AM - Todd, the '04 Manzoni's seem to be more forward than the previous vintages ('95, '98, '99, '00, & definitely the '01s). Many of the '04 Barolos seem to be more open now than other classic vintages. The Manzoni's are fairly ready now rather than being shut down (or too oaky)though they should still age well. The Roul and Big d'Big have a bit more oak which may require 1-2 more years as the Santo Stefano is atypically ready now in this vintage. Last time I was in the store a few of these popped up on the shelves.
The Pezerolles was exceptionally good in '10. I've had older examples and didn't like them as much as this drinks now. Pommard always seems to be so one dimensional but this has great layers now. Unfortunately, I am pretty sure we're out of stock...20% off sale. I've got a couple bottles stashed away for when I get that craving.
The Vigna Tecc is a serious Dolcetto. My most recent tasting confirmed why I still have '07 in my cellar. This should be no different.

2/14/2014 8:11:00 PM - Thanks. No plans, just staying at home. Wife and I just spent the last five days in the hospital with birth of son. I did open a Pabst Blue Ribbon which was probably the best I've ever had. Won't be posting a note on it, though.
