Sunday, January 11, 2015 - Approx. 30 min. decant ... My first time having this vintage in about a year. Oddly, it seems like the fruit is MORE upfront than it was originally, with big globs of blue-black fruit to open; almost overwhelmingly so. The tannins are still definitely present but have sweetened, and there's a chocolate-covered cherry tone to the mid here. The finish is full of black pepper and cardamon spice. Interesting flavor profile but the fruit was a little cloying to open, and that didn't really change over the evening, even with a lot of air. Far from bad, I'm hoping the fruit integrates better in time, since I still have 3 of these left and the mid and finish are both very nice.
