PnP. Nose is full of blueberries and spice along with a layer of something I couldn’t place but my wife thought was currant. On the palate, it still has some blueberry but the fruit has taken a backseat to the bramble and savory aspects. Very enjoyable but I liked it better a few years ago.
Update on night 3 after VinVac - this ranks up there as one of my favorite Bedrock wines ever! What a seamless integration of fruit and savory aspects. Incredible.

PnD let air for 2hrs. Dark opaque purple with plum to clear rim. Blackberry pate sage and earth on the nose. Medium weight with nicely burred tannins. Plum blackberry sage and earth. Ripe and fresh. Riper than the Pagani great contrast. Very impressive given 2011 was supposed to be an off vintage. Lots of life ahead.

Truly amazing zinfandel. Deep red in glass, throwing off a bit of sediment. Heady aroma, at least partly from the high alcohol content (15%). Dark fruit on the front with just a hint of dusty, smoky leather on the finish. Drinking pretty perfectly right now!

A bit awkward on PnP, but opened up nicely after an hour. Blueberries, blackberries, cherry cough drops, earth, a touch of smoke, and a hint of citrus and integrated oak on the nose. Blueberries, tart cherries, plum jam, blackberries, and earth on the palate. Juicy acidity, lightly grippy tannins, medium finish. Surprisingly no heat given the alc %. Delicious. Overall, this was a tasty fruit-forward wine with some refreshing acidity. One of the better Bedrock zins I've had.

Purple in color. 15% ABV. Great big nose of black and blue fruits, flowers and a hint of citrus. Medium body with mouth watering acidity. Brambly blackberry, blueberry liqueur, slate and orange peel on the palate. The wine lingers on the finish. Another winner from Bedrock in the 2011 vintage. Drink over the next 2-4 years.

I let this bottle breath for a few hours before tasting. Pleasant fresh berries on the nose. It has brightness and spritz-like mouth feel. I don't care for the latter. Medium body and juicy fruit on the palate with a lingering aftertaste. Maybe some cloves on the finish. A pleasant but expensive, high alcohol wine (15%).

Starts out a little uneven, but given 30 minutes of air it turns into a juicy, classic brambly Zin. High on the acid scale, but it works with the upfront fruit so well yielding, in the end, balance. Great wine. Day 2 update. Drink up on day 1. Far better.

Love the extra depth provided by cooler growing seasons like 2011. This is a stunningly beautiful, polished expression of Zinfandel, supremely elegant. The vines were planted in 1896.
I've held off opening it after reading from others it was gassy, suggesting bottling prior to completion of the malolactic fermentation. It is still barely gassy on opening but it dissipates easily wthin 2 hours, just enough to accentuate all the delights of the Saitone Edenesque fruit.
The oak elevage is perfect -- not obtrusive but definitely polishing up the edges and adding perfume. If you still have some, enjoy. In a very good place now, and will compete against anything in your cellar of similar (medium) weight. The aromas are Bordeaux end, the palate Burgundian accented with notes of blueberry liqueur, but of course the sucrosity of Zinfandel lends a luscious Chambord note those wines are lacking. I'd score the wine even higher if it had more length.
I do not reflexively assign hyperbolic scores to Bedrock wines. This wine actually lives up to what Morgan and company seek to achieve, a priceless rendition of old vine fruit.

Approx. 30 min. decant ... My first time having this vintage in about a year. Oddly, it seems like the fruit is MORE upfront than it was originally, with big globs of blue-black fruit to open; almost overwhelmingly so. The tannins are still definitely present but have sweetened, and there's a chocolate-covered cherry tone to the mid here. The finish is full of black pepper and cardamon spice. Interesting flavor profile but the fruit was a little cloying to open, and that didn't really change over the evening, even with a lot of air. Far from bad, I'm hoping the fruit integrates better in time, since I still have 3 of these left and the mid and finish are both very nice.

Soaring nose on this one from the first pour full of peppery, brambly red fruit, which followed through to the densely fruited palate and was complemented with plums. Bolstering acidity made this just an incredible delight to drink. Paired amazingly well with chorizo chicken bbq pizza, but also a showstopper on its own.

Bottle could be in a strange state or partially corked. Red cherry cola, almost with an effervescence. Bright red fruit but could not get passed what seemed like a carbonation factor. Normally this is a solid bottle.

No notes taken but this was excellent. Double decanted about an hour before service. Beautiful floral perfume that leapt from the glass. Medium+ bodied with plenty of acidity. Mix of red an black berry fruit that was right on the edge of tart and ripe. Nice mouthfeel, not a lot of tannin. Drinking well now.

Drank with and after dinner. Decanted 1/2 bottle thru Vinturi for 1 hour & consumed over 2 hours w/dinner. Slow o'd rest of bottle for 6 hours. Rich, dense and full-bodied with red & dark fruits -- more notably blue/black berries, and pepper spice. Seemed to have picked up a little bit of glycerin, and as it breathe some grainy vegetal notes emerged. Sweet chewy tannins, moderate acidity & a dry, medium finish. This is drinking nicely now, but has good structure to go for several years. (90+)

Loads of white pepper on the nose mixed in with medium red fruit and flowers, plus acidity and medium body. Oak is noticeable and well integrated with the fruit, but I wouldn't mind if it were a tad less. Overall, it's a well made enjoyable Zin on the same level as the best Zin's in California.

I've noticed that the Bedrock wines I've had all seem to emphasize the fruit, not oak. This one is no exception. Deep violet color with spicey bramble aromas, deep berry flavors with a bit of spice on the finish. Alcohol was well integrated. This is a little pricey for what it offers.

Much better than the last bottle... not sure if there's some variation here, but this bottle had real depth. Near Opaque purple color. Strong Berry and herbal notes on the nose. More of a Blueberry and currant flavor on the front, with some burnt sugar notes. Really persistant finish.

Interestingly effervescent which I have seen before in wines. Normally disappears. Seems to hang around pretty long. Still tight tannins. Nice zin peppery profile. But not my thing and not what I think a zin can be.

No Spritz factor. Deep and brooding for a Zin. Lot's of black berry fruit for a Zin. Some smoke and bramble notes per other's TNs. However, I didn't get the richness of jammy fruit that I've come to expect from other Bedrock Zin's. Going to hold the second for a couple of months. Really Good, but not as good as the Heritage blends.

Decanted approx. 6 hours ... I didn't have an issue with the "spritz" the other reviewers mentioned, perhaps partially due to the long decant. This was still a touch tight though, despite all that air. Some plushness, but seemingly not yet fully fleshed out. Tannins still a touch sharp, though that's being nitpicky. Nice up front fruit, and some mineral notes, but a little less spice and lushness than I'd expect. Very restrained for a straight Zin.

I agree with previous note that this had a bit of spritz to it. Not optimal but still good. I only had two bottles of the saitone out of 8 to do this and none of the other heritage wines have been like this. Must be an anomaly.

Definitely some spritz on the open that seems to blow off after sitting for 30 minutes or so. Nose is a bit muted with the smell of alcohol poking through. Plenty of life left but have decided I need to start enjoying Morgan's wines instead of just stashing them all away. Well let my other bottle of this sit

Dark saturated red color. Almost full bodied but plushness is balanced out by the cool vintage acidity. Lots of red berry fruit comes through along smokey, bramble notes. Excellent example of RRV Zin. Drinking well but could easily go 3-4 more years.

My first Cellartracker note and I am glad it's going to be at least good/neutral. Upon seriously enjoying California (and Washington) cabs for many years, I now waffle back and forth with zins - especially Dry Creek and Russian River zins. Opened this tonight and the previous notes from MOTOMANNEQUIN and GRAPESCOTT came immediately to my mind - citing "spritz". Almost carbonated-like. But then, very dark in the glass and excellent hints of dark fruits and the makings of a very good zin. To me, this is a very good tasting zin and I know the producer is ultra-popular. But I must also state as a fairly recent defector to zin, that I have not encountered the spritz issue with Seghesio, Mauritson, Gamba, or Mazzocco. I paid $36 which based on the ads, I am still OK with. However, for that price, I would go back to one of the above before purchasing more of this.

My first look at Saitone, wondering how it took so long. It's Burger night so out comes a Bedrock! Pop n pour to a blackberry/boysenberry nose, rich red and black berry fruit with mouthwatering acidity. No spritz here like mentioned previously by other tasters. Two + hours in the spice is coming to the forefront along with some oak but that juicy mouthful of fruit persists. Really enjoyable now and the hard part will be keeping my hands off the remaining bottles.

Bought 2 auction bottles just under $38 each, nose of berry fruit, blueberry and cranberry, white pepper, and licorice, more of the same on the palate, similar to the Carlisle version but slightly more disjointed on the palate, medium/big body, tasty with meaty pizza, slightly atypical Zinfandel to me, medium/long finish.

This was just a mess upon opening. Serious spritz that took a long time to blow off made it impossible to assess the underlying wine until almost a week after opening. I had just about written this off as a total loss, but it seems to have finally come around today. The wine in front of me now, 4 days after first popping the cork, is opaque dark ruby, with a pretty purple rim. A very nice nose of blackberries and brambles, black currants, mocha and some eucalyptus. Big and pretty jammy, but with enough acids to keep the fruit in check, and medium tannins. Reminded me a bit of a '90s era Ravenswood Belloni, suggesting that this might develop into something special with some time. As this was my only bottle, I may never know. There is a lot of potential in the raw materials, but it is a disjointed beast right now.

This bottle was purchased from K&L before the actual release from Bedrock, with the intention of trying before the release. It didn't make it to the on-deck circle nearly in time, but I decided to open it to get an early look anyway.
There was a slight spritz to this wine which blew off quickly with a decant. Currently very easy-drinking and smooth, quite primary with blackberries dominating, and finishing with mild oak influence, along with balanced tannin and mouth-watering acidity. This will be easy to enjoy young, but more interesting to see its development over the next few years.

PnP. Dark ruby color. Medium bodied with a bit of plushness balanced by bright acidity. A nice core of ripe berry RRV fruit with some overlaid graphite-like minerality and a little oak. Dark color. Nose very primary, with exhuberant mixed blacks. Much the same on the tongue, with a nice balance of acidity. Finish is medium-short at this stage, tannin already pretty integrated.
Has quite a bit of sediment. Would be insteresting to see where this goes in a few years, but unfortunately I only got one bottle. That said, I didn't mind drinking this young because of the sheer pleasure of the vibrant fruit. 14.5%

Claret like was a good description for this wine, maybe I would call it precise, pretty fruit on the nose, spreading out on the palate, finishing with cleansing acidity. On second taste more complexity than first noticed.

Popped and poured. Beautiful nose; very perfumey with floral notes, a bit of oak, and white pepper. On the palate, a bit primary at this stage. Bright, red berries, the tiniest hint of oak, good acidity. The 2011s all seem to be drinking well right off the bat and showing great restraint. Definitely a more classic vintage. The acid in this zin makes this a winner, although I think this is priced a bit too high.

Open into the decanter. This needs serious time to open up. At first the nose was super shy and virtually not present. After 12 hours this shows deep red fruit, flowers, earth and some cracked pepper. A rich full bodied wine which is in balance but needs more time in the bottle to come together.

Decanted for two hours and drank over the next three. This starts with great aromas and doesn't disappoint on the palate. Nice acidity. Black fruit with a hint of blue layered with spice and pepper. Complex finish. Influence of the petite sirah is apparent.
