Sunday, October 2, 2022 - This is a child of the vintage, more than anything else. Totally open and accessible, but lacks both the structure and the persistence of a truly good or great vintage. Notes of tar, some cherries, graphite, also some flowery notes and smoke, as well as some tobacco. The older this wine is getting the more the terroir is muddled and it‘s just turning into a easy drinking Barolo that lacks the character to be really memorable. This might sound a little negative, but like many 2009s it‘s time to drink this up. It‘s not gaining anything from further storage. Having said this, it‘s still a perfumed, easy to drink and pleasurable bottle.
