Saturday, September 6, 2008 - Forward nose of sweet, ripe cherry, roasted cocoa, and some alcohol. Sweetly ripe cherry soda flavors on the palate, with tarragon and awkwardly fuzzy, not-quite-ripe tannins. Dry (in terms of rs), but the vintage is very much on display here; to me this tastes more like a simple nero d'avola or Spanish garnacha, than Chianti. Really disappointing; I chose to drink water instead. You can bet I'm scratching my head over my note from last year, as it seems to describe a very different wine.
