A: Deep Ruby
N: Medium (+) intensity of black cherries, plum , violet
and cassis (fruit is jammy and prune may be tertiary) with secondaries dominating of chocolate and menthol. Tertiaries of tobacco
P: Dry, high tannin (ripe), medium (+) acid, high alcohol, full body , medium (+) intensity and long finish (medium plus for instr.)
C: Though the alcohol is high, the intensity of fruit offers good balance. The length intensity and complexity means this is an outstanding wine.
The fruit is not fresh or firmly primary and so I would not say that this is suitable for ageing.

Guesses:
The black fruit, tannin and menthol (often the pyrazines show up as menthol in the Americas) took me to Cab Sav from Napa. However, the dominance of the chocolate and the ease with which I spotted the menthol should have put me in Malbec from South America. Cahors would be much more earthy and this was very fruit driven. The Napa Cab would have been less chocolatey and perhaps less menthol, tannins not as velvety and less sign of French Oak in some cases. French Oak in wide use for Malbec in Argentina
