Saturday, September 7, 2019 - Lovely rather traditional Bordeaux that more than holds its own in its weight class (sensibly priced crus classés). Dark fruits, a hint of baking vanilla (not the meretricious vanilla of a wine vinified or aged in hi-toast oak barrels), anise and tobacco on the nose; more dark fruits and tobacco on the palate. Very balanced and harmonious mouthfeel and actually rather easy to enjoy without food, as well as with it of course. This won't make anyone's WOTY list but it does its job and does it well. Drink now or in the next 5 or so years.
