Thursday, January 30, 2014 - On the nose, lots of crushed berries. Pomegranate, raspberry seeds, granite/gravel. Quite pretty and fairly fresh, with nice exuberance. No funk, really clean and light aromas. More mature flavors on the palate. Some forest floor, crushed berries. Very nice acid eruption on the finish with good tart tannins that linger fairly long. I like the way it lingers, with some puckering tartness. Really lovely finish. While there's some age showing on the palate, there isn't much on the finish; just a hint of forest floor. Really nice structure, really nice balance. Does feel a little muted. Still has plenty of exuberance though, so I wouldn't worry about holding these. Even if it won't get better from here, it's not going anywhere.
