Sunday, September 13, 2015 - Appearance: Clear wine with a pale lemon colour and green reflections.
Nose: Clean nose with a Medium+ intensity. This wine is youthful.
As usual I did this wine blind but called it immediately - unmistakably Riesling. Lime zest, green apple skin and slatey minerality are prominent but well balanced with the kerosene/petrol notes - I personally appreciate this as these can sometimes dominate an otherwise lovely wine.
Palate:
Off-dry
High acidity
Low alcohol
Medium intensity
Medium body
Medium+ finish
Slightly softer than the nose suggests with more stone fruit and softer citrus. Still a refreshing wine but not quite as lively as I was hoping for on the palate - perhaps a little too much sugar.
Very good quality Riesling from the Niagara Peninsula, Canada. Can be drunk now or could equally be held onto for another few years. I believe the price point is around 20 dollars which is excellent QPR for this wine.
