Friday, January 26, 2018 - Yes, it was a hot vintage and this is a bit of a freak, not "classic". We dont expect fleshy chablis, or to like it. But this particular freak is so damn lovable, its ET. The nose suggests smoked oysters, briney clam juice, orange zest, and lemon pudding. It's fat, but not quite flabby, and the chalky minerality and tangerine/quinine acidity save the palate from any sense of cloying. Typically, I would not serve fine chablis with roast chicken, but this Les Clos worked beautifully with a honey/lemon/tarragon butter roasted bird. Drink before 2022.
