Lovely wine. Fully mature but still in great nick. Light colour. A touch of exotic fruit with the pear and apple. A honeyed richness to the fruit on the palate but there is a lovely line of lemon acidity to keep things fresh.

Light golden yellow. Very open and welcoming. Decanted for one hour ahead; easily held over the next two. Rich but very good acid adding balance. Long finishing flavors dominated by orchard notes. Superb.

Still a fresh and clear appearance. Fruits are just starting to go a little exotic. It has some spice and plenty of smoky mineral. It is rich and detailed, with good tension and a ling saline finish. In a good place.

Fifth bottle of six, impression consistent with previous bottles. Deepish yellow-green in the glass, honeysuckle, jasmine + a touch of ginger on the nose. Huge, almost Californian style in the fore and mid note ( Kongsgaard-esque? ), but with more than enough residual acidity to clarify from which side of the pond it emanates. Unexpected fleshy/full mouthfeel, slightly reminiscent of a rich Meursault ( Sauzet before he became woke ? ). Long ( 45 second ) afternote. A treat - drink by 2022 ( tops ).

Brighter on the nose than the 2014 with some lemon and buttered popcorn, brown spice and wood. Quite spicy. Touch of something musky like melon - honeysuckle. Palate shows lemon on entry and spice. Very vibrant and bright. Shows more salty minerality towards finish which is long w lemon spice and minerals. Nose - 5/6, Palate - 5.5/6, Finish - 5-5.5/6, Je ne Sais Quoi - 1.5/2 = 17-17.5/20.

Yes, it was a hot vintage and this is a bit of a freak, not "classic". We dont expect fleshy chablis, or to like it. But this particular freak is so damn lovable, its ET. The nose suggests smoked oysters, briney clam juice, orange zest, and lemon pudding. It's fat, but not quite flabby, and the chalky minerality and tangerine/quinine acidity save the palate from any sense of cloying. Typically, I would not serve fine chablis with roast chicken, but this Les Clos worked beautifully with a honey/lemon/tarragon butter roasted bird. Drink before 2022.

Post-Christmas Blinds (Chez Nanda): Served double blind. Terrific nose is classic Chablis -- stony, mineral, sea shells, white flowers, lemon and lemon peel. The palate has excellent concentration with loads of mineral throughout. Mouthwatering acidity combined with dense fruit. Loved this, and a reminder that others beside Dauvissat and Raveneau make world class Chablis. So tasty now. Will seek out more Moreau.

Blinds at Rich's (Chicago, IL): Served double blind. Tons of minerality and crisp acids. There's a hint of greenness here that seemed to add interest to this wine, as well as some lemon and pineapple flavours. This is very densely packed with minerality, and I seemed to pick up some flinty characteristics to it. Tons of acidity. In fact, the greenness here made me think that this was a dry riesling at first.

Bright straw. Reductive matchstick note, followed by apple, iodine, and oyster shell. Flavors of citrus and intense minerality. Great concentration. The 2013 Les Clos shows that vintage's early accessibility but this will evolve positively for years.

Tasted blind. This is an unconventional wine. The hot vintage is evident, and while the wine is balanced and enjoyable now, and it's not a classic Chablis and will probably not age well.

Bright straw. There's a bit of matchstick reduction, followed by apple, acacia, iodine, and just a hint of oaky spice. Minerality and great acidity drives the palate. Like many 2013s, this wine is accessible in its youth, but will reward patience. Drink starting 2020.

Tetsuya's with Terence&Meiting and Elaine (Tetsuya's, Sydney): Clean, flinty struck matchstick, slate and wet shale. Clean with ringing lemon purity, nashi pear, and just a hint of tropical fruit past the edges. Light, clean and delightfully ephemeral pairing with the grilled shio koji toothfish, disappearling in a whiff of smoke and sea minerality!

Good color. The nose shows ripe aromas of citrus, orange blossom, minerals, pear and a hint of wet stone. This is medium full bodied on the palate with excellent concentration and lovely finesse. Structured. The long finish features a strong mineral element.

Bright straw. Stylish nose of iodine, oyster shell, and apricot. There is noticeable oak here, but it doesn't overwhelm the mineral-rich notes. In the mouth, pure minerality & salinity and nice acidity but the finish remains tight. A gorgeous Les Clos in a less than stellar vintage, this needs time. Drink starting 2020.

Shade deeper; broad, expansive nose, flint, saline; quite rich, tropical hints. Plenty on the finish. Drink soonish.

My favourite wine amongst a group of mainly red Bordeaux. Positively opulent for a Chablis, full bodied with great intensity and length.

Minerals, lemon on the nose and palate. Bright, with some underlying richness. Lengthy finish. Worth the $50 I paid.
